Re: May! What are you reading?

I finished Dead Ever After, which is the last Sookie Stackhouse book. Meh. I didn't much like the ending. Don't want to put anything else since I'm not sure if anyone else reads the series. Next up is The Plantagenets - The Warrior Kings and Queens Who Made England. I liked the end. I thought it wr...

Re: It's May! What are you reading?

I recently read the latest Sookie book and the latest Kim Harrison book (also set in a world of vampires, werewolves, witches, etc. but not as fluffy as the Sookie stuff). Last week I read, "Minding Ben" by Victoria Brown. I thought it was excellent. Then I read "Safe Haven" by N...

Re: January! What are you reading?

My Fair Lazy by Jen Lancaster. Blush got me into her. She's so funny, but all of her books are pretty much the same. Just how many memoirs can one person write?! She is funny the first couple of times you read her....I've read two of her books and I just took another one out of the library....I'm b...

Re: January! What are you reading?

I am almost finished with The Nobodies Album by Carolyn Parkhurst and IT IS SO GOOD. I wish I could be reading it right now. This month, I've also read: The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephanie Meyer. I love the Twilight saga, but this sucked. The Walk by Paul Richard Evans. I really liked ...

Sil, I so loved "Shadow of the Wind"!

I'm reading "The Last Time I Saw You" by Elizabeth Berg.

Before that I read "The Fixer Upper" by Mary Kay Andrews. Her books are always quite entertaining.

Re: It's September! What are you reading?

Mockingjay was probably my least favorite of the 3, but I still LOVED it! There were two deaths that I was like "WTF???!!!!!!!!" I thought she did a great job ending the series.

Re: It's August; what are you reading?

And "Mockingjay" is waiting for me at the library. :hyper They must have a million copies of it, because even though I've been on the waiting list for a good 3 months, I was still at least 90th in line. Either that or people are just blowing through it and returning it quickly. Gotta go p...

Re: It's August; what are you reading?

I have about 100 pages left of Mockingjay, Mellen! It's going down tonight! It was $12 at Target.

It's great, but differnt from the first two books as they aren't in a game. Still lots of action and drama, of course.

Re: May! What are you reading?

I just finished "While My Sister Sleeps" by Barbara Delinsky and "The Store" by Bentley Little". Both were pretty good. I have been trying really hard to finish "True Believer" by Nicholas Sparks, but just can't get into it. I decided to give it up this morning, ev...

The movie, "I love you, Beth Cooper" SUCKED. I'll give the book a try sometime.

I just read "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafón. It was EXCELLENT.

Re: No March thread yet, uh?

I've got several things going on right now - all fluff. I read "Dear John" by Nicholas Sparks last week. His books are good for when I'm too stress/tired/whatever to concentrate. I know exactly wha to expect with him.

Re: No March thread yet, uh?

I've just been reading "The Hollows" series by Kim Harrison (witches, vampires, fires). I'm on the 6th book. They are big books - 450 pages or so each, not short ones like the Charlaine Harris Sookie books.

Beverly, I gave up on The Almost Moon right about where you are! I was like, "It's been 50 pages of cleaning poop off her dead mother. I think I can pass." I was bummed because I loved The Lovely Bones.

Re: No March thread yet, uh?

I lent a coworker Hunger Games this morning. Hope she likes it. I saw on the scholastic website that you can preorder the third one now. I'm also anxiously awaiting the next Sookie book in May. I'm reading the Kim Harrison "hollows" series right now. Witches, pixies, vampires. No where nea...

Re: It's January - what are you reading?

I loved "Catching Fire". I loved "The Hunger Games" more, but if you enjoyed the characters and the story you'll like "Catching Fire", too. It left me dying for the third one, which isn't out yet! "Hunger Games" and "The Help" were probably my two fa...

Re: It's December - what are you reading?

Last night I read "Testimony" by Anita Shreave. It was okay. It was written in different voices and one, the headmaster, was really boring. I skipped whole pages of his parts.
