Re: July! What are you reading?
I'm reading Hunger by Roxane Gay. It's good so far. I seem to have completely lost most of my reading mojo and have at least five books sitting around in half-read states.

Re: October! What are you reading?
I recently finished Pale Fire by Nabokov. It was exquisite. I really loved it, though it is kind of strange.
Now I'm sort of reading Dissolution by C.J. Sansom. It's the first of a series of murder mysteries set in Henry VIII's England. Have you read them, Mellen?

Re: June! What are you reading?
Finished reading Serena, and it was sort of meh ... I mean, it was all right, but it was very predictable after the first third or so, and kind of tiresome. Not sure what's up next.

Re: June! What are you reading?
I'm reading Serena by Ron Rash. It's pretty good so far, but you can tell that it's setting up for some bad (as in upsetting) stuff, and I'm not sure I'm in the mood for that. Ah, well ... Blush, I ordered the new Joshua Ferris book the other day. I loved his first two, so I've been looking forward ...

Re: May! What are you reading?
I loved Life After Life. I couldn't stop thinking about it for weeks after reading it.
I just finished The Silent Wife, and it was okay. Better than Gone Girl.
Right now I'm working on the third book of a Swedish detective trilogy. As far as I know it's not available in English.

I caved and started reading Gone Girl, and wow, such a page-turner! I'm just over halfway and will probably finish in the next day or two.

Re: February! What are you reading?
I'm deep into research at the moment, but I'm mighty tempted to sneak in a novel. I have Gone Girl and Serena in a pile near my desk, and they're both more appealing than The Structural Transformation of the Public Sphere.

I'm nearing the end of Life after Life -- LOVE this book!
Don't know what's up next ... I really, really, really need to work on my thesis so I should probably take a break from pleasure reading.

Re: January 2014! What are you reading?
Beverly, in Portuguese. But the translation from Spanish to Portuguese is smooth, you barely notice you're reading a translation. From Spanish to English, not so much, hence my question. Glad it's good! Which Time and Again is that? There are several books by that name, apparently. That's why I won...

Re: January 2014! What are you reading?
Sílvia, the translation seems pretty good. Did you read it in Spanish or Portuguese?
Spudd, I really hope you enjoy Time and Again -- it is seriously one of my favorite books EVER, and I've lost track of how many times I've read it.

Re: January 2014! What are you reading?
I'm reading The Time in Between by María Dueñas. It's a book that Sílvia recommended a couple of years ago, and I was finally able to get it in English at a good price. I'm about halfway through and really enjoying it.

Re: December! What are you reading?
Rowan -- The Long Winter is my favorite, too. :) I just read A Discovery of Witches and was a little disappointed, only because I didn't realize before starting that it was about vampires. Still, the writing was pretty good, and I've ordered the second book, so obviously it wasn't all bad. A couple ...

Re: June - what are you reading?
I'm taking a break from school stuff and reading a novel! I'm working on The Interpretation of Murder by Jed Rubenfeld. It's a mystery set in New York in 1909. Freud and Jung are two of the main characters, and there's a lot about psychoanalysis, obviously. It has the potential to be really good, bu...

Re: It's September...what are you reading?
Then I finally started 11/22/63! I'm only on page 29, but so far Mr. King has kept his standards of grippingness. May I add that I always have to stop and think before I type the title of this book, since here the dates are day/month/year. I bought this book a couple of weeks ago and when Olof saw ...

Mostly I'm reading school stuff (early modern European history), but when I take a break from that I'm working on The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.
