Re: October! What are you reading?
Finished Lexicon, which was awesome. About 3/4 through with The Shining Girls - and it's good, but not great. Can't get into Life after Life, but looking forward to: Hyperbole and a Half London Falling The World's Strongest Librarian Before I Go to Sleep was a good thriller, I liked Cuckoo's Calling...

Wool was good, but dragged a bit for me in the end. I did not like beautiful ruins at all. This month:
The troupe - very inventive. Reminded me of the Night Circus.
Sun of suns / - sci fi
The shadow tracer / Meg Gardner
Some kind of fairy tale : a novel /

I love Sedaris. I saw him live, and now I read his books in his voice. On the reading list now: And the Mountains Echoed, Earth Afire, the Light Between Oceans, and Man Up by Ross Matthews. The last really good books I read were the Dog Stars, and Tell the Wolves I'm home.

Re: It's August - what are you reading?
A week or two ago I finally finished the Stieg Larsson trilogy. Loved the first book, but the second and third didn't thrill me too much. I think he made them way more complex than he needed to to make his point and write an interesting story. Glad I read them, but they could have been shorter. Las...

Did I tell you guys about the Help by Kathryn Stockett? It is so good! Starred Review. Four peerless actors render an array of sharply defined black and white characters in the nascent years of the civil rights movement. They each handle a variety of Southern accents with aplomb and draw out the dai...

Re: April! What are you reading?
I can't remember who recommended The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot, but it was excellent. From a single, abbreviated life grew a seemingly immortal line of cells that made some of the most crucial innovations in modern science possible. And from that same life, and those cells, ...

Just finished "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo." Loved it! I had no idea this series was so suspenseful, so that was a nice surprise. Just placed a hold for the next one, so that probably won't come in for a couple of months. And I'm still working on "What to Eat" by Marion Nest...
