Re: December! What are you reading?

When the stroke hit us on Nov 24th I was at 72% in The Possible World. I wasn't loving it, ended up giving it 3 stars, but I'll remember forever that I was reading this damn book when our lives were turned upside down. I kinda feel sorry for the author. It took me more than 2 weeks to finish the rem...

Re: November?! What are you reading?

Finished Evelyn Hugo. Opinion remains: liked it, didn't love it. A solid 7. I think my main problem with it was that I didn't like the main character much. Then I read All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin. A page-turner, I thoroughly enjoyed it. And now I've just started The Possible World by Liese O'...

Re: November?! What are you reading?

Don't worry, Ro. I saw that the average goodreads rating for Nine... is 3.7, so clearly you're not the only one who's disappointed. I do think she has a loyal readership who expects too much from her. I've given 5 stars to THREE of her books. That's a record for me and I'm sure at some point she'll ...

Re: November?! What are you reading?

Ro, I read about The Winters in one of the facebook book groups I belong. I'm not sure how I feel about it. It could either go super well or horribly badly :? But I'm certainly curious. Nine Perfect Strangers will probably be my next read! I love Liane and have been counting the days 'till its relea...

A week later and no updates?! Where is everyone?

I finished Rebecca then started The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. I like it so far.

Re: November?! What are you reading?

Ooh, I loved What She Knew!

I'm still rereading Rebecca. I'm really not much of a rereader. I get impatient because I know where it's headed. But if you haven't read it, I highly recommend it.

Re: October! What are you reading?

The Dream Daughter did not go where I thought it was going, yay! It was a bit trashy, as usual, but very engrossing. Now I'm rereading Rebecca. It's my third time. First time was at 16, second early 30s, now late 40s. So about every 15 years. I must be addicted to contemporary fiction, because I'm f...

Re: October! What are you reading?

Finished In Her Shadow. It was entertaining, but terribly far-fetched. I'm not giving up on him, but why can't today's mystery writers come up with slightly more believable plots? Sigh. Then I started The Dream Daughter by Diane Chamberlain. I'm always promising I'll never read another book by her (...

Re: October! What are you reading?

I read Evidence of the Affair by Taylor Jenkins Reid a few days ago. I LOVED it. It's a novella, you read it in less than an hour.

Then I started In Her Shadow by Mark Edwards. Very gripping, as was the other book I read by him, Follow You Home. I should finish that today or tomorrow.

Re: October! What are you reading?

Hey guys! I haven't updated in a while, so let's see. I finished the Brazilian history one, it was interesting. Then I read The Suspect by Michael Robotham, the first in the Joseph O'Loughlin series. It was good. Then I read a Brazilian period romance that kinda sucked, then An Offer From a Gentlema...

Re: September: what are you reading?

Finished The Other Wife. Loved it. It's one of those mystery series that feature the same 2 characters in all books, but instead of 2 cops, one of the main characters is a psychologist. THE main character, actually. It made for much more interesting reading, IMO. Plus I didn't have to endure all the...

Re: September: what are you reading?

I started The Other Wife by Michael Robotham. So far it's very gripping. This is #9 in a mystery series with a much-loved psychologist as a main character.

Decided to keep reading the history book.

Re: September: what are you reading?

Finished The Final Six. It was meh. It was not bad, but it was very childish.

I'm not feeling the Brazilian one, either. Not in the mood for history. I don't know if I'll keep it and read it slowly or just return it.

Re: September: what are you reading?

I read The Perfect Couple By Elin Hilderbrand. It was so much fun! I'd always been put off by her book covers, all similar, all beach-y. But this had a murder in it, so I was drawn. I was hooked from the very beginning. Then I read The Broken Girls by Simone St James (sp?), which had been on my list...

Re: August! What are you reading?

Read another Dianne Blacklock (The Right Time). It wasn't as good as Almost Perfect, sadly. Not even close. Now I'm finishing the sample of The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand. I think I'll buy it. I seem to be in the mood for chick lit. I don't know what's up these days, I can't even think of an...

Re: August! What are you reading?

Finished the Dianna Blacklock. Loved it! It was fluffy chick lit, but the kind that didn't make me gag. I started a sample of another one by her.

Re: August! What are you reading?

Blush, it's promising! Check out how it starts: "I don't know about you, but personally I like a book to be readable first off. Sounds obvious, doesn't it? A book is written to be read, after all. What I mean is, I don't want to have to struggle through it, to feel like my high school English teache...
