Don't get me started on adult men spending time and money on video games.

Re: February!

I've just finished Never Lie. It was a bit insane but I really liked it! It was a total page-turner.

Re: February!

Sorry about your rut, Ro. I hope it's short-lived. I finished The Best of Friends. Liked it a lot. Now I'm reading Never Lie by Freida McFadden. I was annoyed at the shallowness and stupidity of the main character at first, but it quickly became clear that it was on purpose. Now I'm totally hooked. ...

Re: February!

Blush, glad you enjoyed Evelyn! Kayley, so good to have you here! Enjoy your reading! I finished A Familar Stranger and now I have another fast-paced mystery that I downloaded from kindle unlimited, The Best of Friends by Lucinda Berry, I think. I found out goodreads has several lists of the best bo...

Re: February!

Yay, Kayley is here! :hi Blush, I quite enjoyed Evelyn as well! Have fun! I finished the sequel to The Henna Artist, The Secret Keeper of Jaipur. It was ok too, not phenomenal. The first one was slightly better. Then I tried Daisy Jones again. Nope. I just don't care about those people. I guess I'm ...

Re: January 2023!

Ugh on the tennis levels! You did suggest Tomorrow, but it'd been popping up often in my goodreads feed and I got curious. But I really didn't find the blurb appealing, so I don't know why I insisted. I should follow my own advice; if merely reading the BLURB is boring you, the book is not for you. ...

Re: January 2023!

I mean, I ended up liking the latest by Liane Moriarty after a slow start, but 1) I adore Liane and 2) I didn't think it talked too much about tennis at all. But Taylor Jenkins Reid is not Liane and if there is that much tennis... but it's funny to see people's reactions. I actually saw a video the ...

Re: January 2023!

Finished The Henna Artist and enjoyed the second half better than the first. I really needed more time with the book. Now I'm picking up its sequel, The Secret Keeper of Jaipur. The third book in the trilogy, The Perfumist of Paris, comes out in March.

Re: January 2023!

I quite enjoyed The Seven Husbands! And I loved Malibu Rising. I really should give Daisy Jones another chance. I started it once but gave it up after 30 pages or so. I should insist, because both Seven Husbands and Malibu were slow starters for me. Carrie Soto is on my radar, but I HATE tennis :? I...

Re: January 2023!

I got to 47% of The Passage but I doubt I'll finish it. The firs part was super compelling, but the second is like a whole different book, super boring.

Then I read The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren, which was entertaining enough.

Now I've barely started the sample of The Henna Artist.

Re: January 2023!

I read 100 pages of Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrow and realized it's really not for me. Then I read Interstellar because I saw the movie on the weekend and some things weren't clear, so decided to read the book, which is a novelization of the movie. I'm glad I read it, but the movie is much better....

Re: December!

Is Golden Girl the one about the woman who dies and keeps an eye on her family from beyond? I think I was unimpressed by that one. Elin Hilderbrand is very hit-and-miss for me, though I loved at least 2 or 3. I wanna check out her latest, The Hotel Nantucket, I think. I did give up on Greenwich Park...

Re: December!

I finished the Nora Roberts. It was ok. Not great writing, but the plot moved fast enough to keep me engaged. Then I read the sample of Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrow, but couldn't get into it. I saw some people on goodreads saying it's much more than a book about video games, but I couldn't get pa...

Re: December!

Rowan, I saw that you have an eye dr appt today. Good luck! Let us know what they say. Also, that book has been on my list for a while. Maybe I should read it next. I'm reading a post-apocalyptic fantasy by Nora Roberts. Please don't judge me. It's called Year One. So far I'm enjoying the post-apoca...

Re: December!

Couldn't get into The Dog Stars. Then I read The Measure, which was ok until the 30% mark or so, so I finished it, but ended up hating.

As usual, I have no idea what I'm in the mood for. What was your last 5-star read?

Re: December!

Not cool indeed, S! I finished The Dreamers. Loved it. Then I read her earlier novel, The Age of Miracles. It was pretty good, too. Then I started The Dog Stars by Peter Heller. So far I'm not impressed, but lots of readers say the beginning is slow but it gets better, so I'll keep trying. I seem to...

Re: December!

Is it the 13th, Ro? Last week I read Live to Tell by Lisa Gardner. It was ok. Ish. Interesting premise, but the ending was stupid. Plus the female detective is endlessly talking about how she's always hungry (and can eat like a horse and not gain weight) and horny. This was written by a woman? :head...
