Re: December!

Yep, the 13th!

I finished We Are the Light by Matthew Quick which was weird. Totally written in letter format. 3 star.

I read the Matthew Perry memoir which was good but sad. He's truly an addict and super lonely.

I started Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six by Lisa Unger which is good so far.

December!

:cute December - my birthday month :cute

I got new glasses last week and my reading has definitely suffered as I adjust to them.

I'm currently reading We Are the Light which is a wee bit weird but decent. I'd like to finish it soon.

Re: November!

I finished For Butter or Worse; ok but formulaic.
I read this as "Butter Whore". LOL

That is all.

Re: November!

I read Corrections in Ink by Keri Blakinger -- a memoir of an ice skater-Ivy league student-heroin addict. It was good - very well written. 3.5 stars I also read Black Cake by Charmaine Wilkerson which I probably wouldn't have picked up except it's our virtual book club pick for Dec. I really liked ...

Re: November!

Goodreads does ARCs too - maybe submit for a few of those to try? But definitely agree - it shouldn't matter but I wonder if there's some weird legal/copyright thing.

Re: November!

This particular ARC I got via email from the publisher. I think she's sent me stuff in the past so I'm on her list. I started getting them by signing up at Netgalley. I don't have a blog where I review but I list my instagram. I think you can also list Goodreads. You have to keep your % of ARCs revi...

Re: November!

I liked Can't Look Away - 3.5 stars. I read November 9 by Colleen Hoover which was entertaining but not amazing. I also read Signal Fires by Dani Shapiro which I really liked - it was really well written and went between 3 or 4 different time periods and 4 POV which honestly seems like a lot when I ...

Hi :wave

Still reading Can't Look Away by Carola Lovering. I haven't had much time for reading in the last few days.

Re: October

I finished Never Saw Me Coming and really liked it. I read We Spread by Iain Reid which was just super weird. It was short and a quick read or I wouldn't have finished it. It was one of those "what did I just read?" books. I'm 75% through Can't Look Away by Carola Lovering and really likin...

Re: October

I read: Fifty Words for Rain by Asha Lemmie. This was a hard book about a Japanese girl and her hard life but was 4 stars for me. I didn't love the ending but the rest of the book was excellent. Such Sharp Teeth by Rachel Harrison. I have loved everything she has written. Trust me, I wasn't really w...

Re: October

I did like Salem's Lot but it was never one of my favorites as a teen.

Kings I read multiple times as a teen:

The Stand (5 or so)
Firestarter
The Shining
Pet Semetary

Acts of Violet - YMMV - I think i may just be in a string of bad books and I was too critical.

Re: October

I finished Acts of Violet by Margarita Montimore. I thought it was just ok. I loved her previous book, Oona Out of Order. I'm 75% done with The Most Likely Club by Elyssa Friedland which is an easy read - so far so good. Reviews haven't been great but I like the whole HS reunion trope. I still want ...

Re: September!

Syl - I loved the book 11/22/63 but found the series slow. We stopped midway and never went back to it. Maybe it just wasn't the right time for us to watch? I finished More Than You'll Ever Know by Katie Gutierrez on Monday which was a 4 star read for me. A tad long but well written. Next up is Thin...

September!

What are you reading?

I'm pretty surprised that I didn't read whilst sick. That's not typical for me but all I did was scroll instagram. The brain wants what the brain wants.

I did read Carrie Soto is Back which was good but not my favorite Taylor Jenkins Reid. I have a giant stack to get to.

Re: August!

I read Mary Jane by Jessica Anya Blau and it just sucked me in. I would generally say I don't like character driven books but I just got totally swept up in this one. I loved it.

I'm currently reading The Displacements by Bruce Holsinger but not very far in so I'm still deciding what I think of it.

Re: July!

I've had some good reads lately.... The Measure by Nikki Erlick. Everyone on earth 22 and older wakes up one day with a box outside their door. Inside the box is a string which determines how long you will live. Some people open their box and others don't. There becomes a "long-string" and...

Re: July!

I like Linwood Barclay too! I do like Riley Sager - he is a he but it's a pseudonym purposely chosen to be questionable gender. His first 3 are my faves particularly Final Girls. Random note: I've only had one 5 star book since 2020 (The Nightingale) and then no 5 stars until 2013. I knew I was stri...
