Yep, SÃlvia, I thought it was the best of her books -- very good!
I finished Water for Elephants and LOVED it. I couldn't put it down. Now I'm getting ready to start The Crowning Glory of Calla Lily Ponder by Rebecca Wells.

Re: July! What are you reading?
Oh, wow ... The Postmistress was a *terrible* book. Bad writing, bad plot, just bad, bad, bad.
I've just started Water for Elephants now, and so far I'm liking it.

Re: July! What are you reading?
Bugsy, the middle of the Larsson trilogy was the weakest, I think, and the third one does pick up and get better, if I remember right. I think my main problem with The Time Traveler's Wife was that I couldn't make my brain let go of trying to figure out the logistics and just roll with the story. I'...

Re: July! What are you reading?
Finished The Time Traveler's Wife, and I'm sorry to report that it left me a little meh. I liked it okay, but I didn't love it.
Now I'm starting The Postmistress by Sarah Blake. It got mixed reviews so I'm a bit apprehensive, but we'll see.

Re: July! What are you reading?
I finished Started Early, Took My Dog while we were on vacation, and it was so good. Kate Atkinson's books just get better and better.
Now I've started The Time Traveler's Wife, a million years after everyone else read it. So far I'm equally captivated and confused.

Re: June: What are you reading?
Finished Middlesex, and I really liked it. After that I've been reading Kate Atkinson's detective series with Jackson Brodie. They're pretty good -- right now I'm on the fourth one, Started Early, Took My Dog, and it's a good read so far.

I'm still working on Middlesex. It's good and I wish I had more time to sit down with it.

I'm working on Middlesex. So far I like it, but I'm getting to read only five or ten pages a day ... at this rate I'll finish by Christmas.

May! What are you reading?
I just finished up The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters (I think SÃlvia read it a little while ago, too). I thought it was pretty good -- definitely kept me turning the pages!
Not sure what I'll read next.

Re: April! What are you reading?
I took a break on the Swedish book since it doesn't really seem like one to read in fits and starts, and that's what I've got to work with these days. I started instead on Case Histories by Kate Atkinson. She's a British mystery writer whom I haven't read before. So far it's really good. A later boo...

Re: April! What are you reading?
I've bought several books in the past week or so, and I'm not sure what I'm going to read next. Yesterday I read the first few pages of a Swedish book that got pretty good reviews ( Om inte nu så när by Annika Thor -- it's not yet translated to any other languages), and I may go with that. It's ab...

Re: March! What are you reading?
Now I'm reading "Words the Dog Knows" on Beverly's recommendation. So far I'm really enjoying it, I've laughed out loud several times. And it's Canadian! I'm always surprised when someone who's not Canadian recommends a book I've never heard of, and it turns out to be Canadian. I *think* ...

Re: February - what are you reading?
Yeah, I do, and it irks me, too! The library in town has a decent-sized English collection for a town its size -- probably a couple of thousand English books, but most of them I'm not interested in reading. Also, the library is twenty minutes away, and for whatever reason, I hardly ever go there. I ...

Re: February - what are you reading?
I finally finished This Body of Death by Elizabeth George. It was good, but sort of depressing (all her books are lately, it seems). I haven't decided what to read next, but it will probably be Room, since I just got it in the mail yesterday.

Re: February - what are you reading?
I'm still working on This Body of Death by Elizabeth George. It's good, but I'm not finding a lot of time to read right now.
I ordered Room to add to my to-read stack.
