Re: December! What are you reading?

Finished Behind Her Eyes - it had quite the twist at the end, I thought it was good.

Re: December! What are you reading?

Finished Artemis - it was pretty good. Light and amusing.

I'm about a quarter of the way into Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough and I can't put it down.

Re: December! What are you reading?

Rowan, I hate that feeling when you have a bunch of books but no burning desire to read at least one of them.

I started Artemis by Andy Weir last night. Really liking it so far.

Re: December! What are you reading?

Unbelievable: My front row seat to the craziest campaign in American History by Katy Tur - really good even though it’s like reliving the whole Trump getting elected nightmare.

Re: December! What are you reading?

Finished Heat & Light - really enjoyed it.

Read The Dogs of Littlefield. Eh. It tried way too hard.

I need to make a trip to the library today.

Re: December! What are you reading?

Future Home of the Living God by Louis Erdrich was too weird for me so I gave up halfway.

I'm about 3/4 of the way through Heat & Light by Jennifer Haigh. It's really good.

Re: November?! What are you reading?

Finished Renegades by Marissa Meyer- I really really liked it. This is the same author that wrote The Lunar Chronicles, which I think a few people here also read. Anyway, the book is set in post-apocalyptic America. Some people have powers and are called prodigies....there are villains and super her...

Re: November?! What are you reading?

Sílvia, I didn't even start it. It was LONG (700+ pages) and I just wasn't in the mood for one of his books where there are a million and one characters to keep track of. I love his writing but I think I need to just stick to his shorter books like Joyland.

Re: November?! What are you reading?

Decided I wasn't going to get through the new Stephen King before it was due back. Got about a quarter of the way in to Hiddensee: A Tale of the Once and Future Nutcracker by Gregory Maguire. It was pretty bad. With the exception of Wicked I always feel like his book ideas are better than the actual...

Re: November?! What are you reading?

Finished The Butchering Art: Joseph Lister's Quest to Transform the Grisly World of Victorian Medicine by Lindsey Fitzharris. It was quite good. Makes me appreciate modern medicine that's for sure. Not sure what's up next. I have the new Stephen King but it's a billion pages, not sure I'm in the moo...

Re: November?! What are you reading?

DNF No One Can Pronounce My Name by Rakesh Satyal. Just couldn't get into it. Finished See What I Have Done - a retelling of the Lizzie Borden murders. It was really good. And I loved the cover. I have The Butchering Art: Joseph Lister's Quest to Transform the Grisly World of Victorian Medicine by L...

Re: November?! What are you reading?

I posted in the wrong month! Re-posting here. I skim read the Hilary Clinton book. It was good but long and a little repetitive in places. Just finished up Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia. It was really good. It's a YA book about a HS girl that creates a super popular webcomic but as crea...

Re: October already! What are you reading?

I just added American War to my library list - it sounds good! Finished My Absolute Darling by Gabriel Tallent - it was good, but dealt with incest and abuse. I was ready to be done with it about 150 pages before it was over. Now I (of course) have a whole stack of books that came in at once. I thin...

Re: October already! What are you reading?

Class Mom by Laurie Gelman - it's a funny take on school politics and the mine field of being a class mom. I enjoyed it. I'm about a quarter of the way in to My Absolute Darling by Gabriel Tallent - The writing is beautiful, but it is a dark read, the book follows the (extremely) dysfunctional relat...

Re: October already! What are you reading?

I rolled my eyes several times while reading The Arrangment. It’s a beach read type book, nothing fantastic. I haven’t read any of the others. And my holds come in like that all the damn time. Drives me nuts. Then I feel like I have to make a pile ranking what I want to read vs what I’m willing to r...

Re: October already! What are you reading?

I am just about done with The Burning Girl by Claire Messud. It's fairly decent but nothing amazing. I had the Resurrection of Joan Ashby from the library as well. I keep seeing it on "must read" lists but I just couldn't get into another loooong book after reading It. Edited to add: Finis...

Re: September! What are you reading?

I FINALLY finished It. I have Stephen King fatigue at this point. It was good but FFS I feel like half the book was in italics, which drove me nuts.

Next up is the Resurrection of Joan Ashby.

Re: September! What are you reading?

I am a little over halfway through IT and loving it. It took until about page 400 for me to get to the point that I really don't want to put it down. My plan is to finish it this weekend as I forgot to freeze my hold list at the library and had like 5 books come in all at once, all of which I would ...
