Re: June! What are you reading?

My TBR list is out of control. I have secondary lists so I don't add it to my main list to make it worse. In my head that makes it better. :paranoid Finished The Hatching by Ezekiel Boone. It's about man-eating spiders that are trying to take over the earth. Sounds bizarre but it was really quite go...

Re: May: What are you reading?

Finished Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton's doomed campaign - it was good but repetitive. Overall theme is that Hillary is in a bubble with little self awareness. Grocery: The Buying and Selling of Food in America by Michael Ruhlman - it was really good and pretty interesting to learn about how gro...

Re: May: What are you reading?

I loved Woman No. 17. In all fairness, all of the characters were fairly screwed up and unlikable but I loved the writing and the story. Just started Shattered: Inside Hillary Clinton's doomed campaign. It's a long book - I'm on Chapter 8 and it's already getting a bit repetitive so I have a feeling...

Re: May: What are you reading?

Finished Ice Ghosts: The Epic Hunt for the Lost Franklin Expedition by Paul Watson. It was excellent if you are in to these type of books.

I started Woman No. 17 by Edan Lepucki last night. I really liked her last book, California, hoping this one is just as good.

May: What are you reading?

Read The Stranger in the Woods: The Extraordinary Story of the Last True Hermit by Michael Finkel. It was decent. Wouldn't necessarily recommend it. Too much of the book was the author trying to weave hermit folklore into the story which just didn't work.

Finished The Arrangement by by Sarah Dunn. It was decent and mindless. You could pretty much predict the entire plot though.

Re: April: What are you reading?

I finished Young, Fair, and Damned - Catherine Howard, the Fifth Wife of Henry VIII. It was good but a little too dense. I started The Arrangement by by Sarah Dunn. It's about a couple who decide to have an open marriage for 6 months. It's OK so far. Silvia, Staz, HBO or Showtime (can't remember) ma...

Re: April: What are you reading?

I read Running by Cara Hoffman. Loved her writing but the ending kind of sucked. Everything was just left hanging. I think up next is Young, Fair, and Damned - Catherine Howard, the Fifth Wife of Henry VIII. I've been binge watching The White Queen (even though I am not a fan of Philippa Gregory's b...

Re: April: What are you reading?

Then I started The Rosie Project. I was totally prepared to not like it, but I'm loving it so far. I should have guessed it, since Mellen gave it 2 stars. :rofl It's really one star but I always feel bad doing that. I hated that book and still do not understand all the love. I'm glad you like it th...

Re: April: What are you reading?

I finished Cork Dork by Bianca Bosker - it was enjoyable and interesting but have to admit there were parts I skimmed a bit.

Finished The Roanoke Girls by Amy Engel - it was good but deals with some weird stuff that I wasn't quite expecting.

Re: April: What are you reading?

Finished Shadowbahn by Steve Erickson. WEIRD book - the twin towers reappear in the Badlands of South Dakota and play music but everyone hears a different song. Oh and Elvis Presly's stillborn twin Jesse is living on the 93rd floor. :loony It started off intriguing and then just got bizarre. Would n...

Re: March: What are you reading?

Matilda is one of my all time favorite books! :giggle I finished Animals Strike Curious Poses by Elena Passerello - it was WEIRD. But good, I enjoyed most of it. Some of the essays I skipped. I'm just about done with The Education of Margot Sanchez. It took me a little bit to get into it but I'm rea...

Re: March: What are you reading?

Read All Grown Up by Jami Attenberg. What a dud. No idea why it landed on so many must read lists. It was annoying and whiny and I was so happy to finish it.

Re: March: What are you reading?

Read Illusion of Justice by Jerome Buting. He is one of the lawyers that represented Steven Avery and was in the Making a Murderer series on Netflix. It was a really good read about all the behind the scenes stuff that goes on preparing for a trial. Not sure what is up next. Probably We Have Always ...

Re: March: What are you reading?

Finished The Dry by Jane Harper. Really well written crime fiction. I couldn't put it down.

Also breezed through Wires and Nerve by Marisa Meyer. It's a graphic novel about a character (Iko for those that have read the series) from The Lunar Chronicles. It was decent.

Re: March: What are you reading?

I finished Gilded Cage by Vic James. I wanted to love it more than I did. Love the premise but there were a few too many points of view in the book. I'll definitely read the new book in the series though.

Next up is The Dry by Aaron Falk

Re: February! What are you reading?

Finished The Woman in the Walls. Eh. It was ok. The ending was weird and kind of rushed.

I'm about halfway through Gilded Cage by Vic James. It's decent so far. One part of society has "skills" (magic) and the rest have to serve 10 years of slavery to that group.
