I'm reading The Help by Kathryn Stockard and it is so good. Its created quite a buzz on librarything. Its set in pre Civil Rights era Mississippi and is about black maids working in white homes.
I can't wait to finish it but at the same time I don't want to finish it.

Discuss: Do audiobooks "count"?
So I've been lurking on librarything for some time now and see that some people count audiobooks as "books they've read".
What do you think?

Re: Discuss: Why do some authors get bad over time?
Ok, I will give Mr King props for switching it up. I did read Cell and liked it. I agree with you Crystal that its hard to come up with new ideas all the time. That said, isn't it weird that a book becomes a NYT bestseller just because of the author. I would bet its harder to break that top 10 than ...

Discuss: Why do some authors get bad over time?
Anyone else feel this way? Why is it for some authors have a great first few (or even 10) books and then fall flat.
Some examples for me are:
Jonathan Kellerman
Patricia Cornwell
James Patterson
John Grisham
Stephen King
Thoughts? Do the ideas just get old after a while?

Re: It's March - what are you reading?
But it's nothing if you read some of the people on librarything. Some people read a book a day. Granted they probably don't have jobs but still.....
Really the hard part isn't the reading its finding books. I'm heading to a new library this week as I've exhausted the local one.

Change of plans. Apparently I had the new Adriana Trigiani at the library so I'm starting that today so I can get it back to the library ASAP. I'm 40 pgs in and its pretty good.

Re: It's March - what are you reading?
I just finished Kristen Hannah's latest True Colors. It was ok but I didn't like any of the 3 main characters. You would think that with 3 sisters there would be someone you could relate to but no. Next up is a GH Ephron novel Obsession. The series is good - kinda like Alex Delaware before Jonathan ...

Re: It's March - what are you reading?
I finished the newest Michael Palmer The Second Opinion which I liked. There were a few over the top things that as a dr he should have known but otherwise was a quick and engaging read. I'm currently reading the newest Jodi Picoult who I know isn't a favorite among a lot of you but I'm really enjoy...

Re: It's March - what are you reading?
Finished Beat the Reaper. It was pretty good although the end was a little crazy.
I also read Barbara Delinsky's latest While My Sister Sleeps. It was an easy engaging read. I've liked her recent books.
Not sure what's next on the pile.

It's March - what are you reading?
I'm reading Beat the Reaper by Josh Bazell and it is fantastic. Its been described as Pulp Fiction meets Grey's Anatomy. I'm about 100 pages in and I'm so impressed by his description and writing style. if the f-bomb offends then its not for you. This is the debut for him and he wrote it during his ...

Anna I really liked Lost and Found - hope you so too.
I'm reading The Associate by Grisham. I don't know why I keep bothering with him but I have been in a bad book rut lately.

Re: It's February - what are you reading?
I don't usually go on business trips but I'm just trying for something I won't be embarrassed of (which is why I'm reading the Marcia Brady book now).
I have outliers on my queue at the library. Glad to hear its good.

Here's the Story by Maureen McCormick. I know, I know.
I just finished Delusion by Peter Abrahams which was pretty good although I thought the ending was rushed. I hate that.
I'm going on a business trip and need to bring 3-4 books. Anyone have any suggestions?

Re: 2008 Book round-up!
How many books did you read this year? (if you're into tracking that sort of thing) 115 - my goal was 100 and I hit that in November. After that, I slowed down a bit. What was your favourite book read this year? There was several...I loved American Wife, Robber Bride, The Post-Birthday World, The Co...

I just finished Infected by Scott Sigler. Amazon kept sticking it on my "recommended" list so I got it from the library. It was really good if you like the "sickness to end the world" type of theme.

Past the Bleachers - Chris Bohjalian. So not my favorite of his - not sure I will finish it. I've loved everything else of his recently though.
