Re: February already! What are you reading?
I'm reading a terrible book called "If I Am Missing or Dead", which is supposed to be the writer telling the story of her sister's abusive marriage and disappearance but 3/4 of the book has been about the writer's own abusive marriage. Many of the stories are about him objectifying by maki...

That sounds interesting, Mellen. Let me know how you like it.
I'm halfway through Bernadette. LOVE it. It's hilarious! I can totally see why all of us crabby introverts love this book.

Re: 2013....It's January what are you reading??
I finished "These Things Hidden". It was pretty good for what it was. Not amazing writing or deep character development but it was fast-paced and entertaining. A good beach read! (Says the girl who read it while buried under a down comforter at 10 o'clock at night on a 15 degree night.) Ne...

Re: 2013....It's January what are you reading??
I finished "The Age of Miracles" and ended up really liking it. Even though the actual plot was a little weak, I decided the sci-fi concept was intriguing enough to carry it. It wasn't extraordinary writing but it was a fast and entertaining read. Not sure what's next for me. I have "...

Re: 2013....It's January what are you reading??
I finished "Wild" by Cheryl Strayed (excellent!) and started "Age of Miracles". It's decent. It moves along quickly even though I haven't figured out what the actual plot is, beyond the sci-fi concept of time slowing down.

Re: Mellen and Annie, please tell me how it ends!
Yeah, it was the bark off some trees, in a very small, limited area of the forest. Dr. Swenson ate the bark and even Marina started eating the bark. Now that I think about it, it's possible Dr. Swenson and team didn't pursue the issue of Anders' death because they didn't want the other tribe to be a...

Re: Mellen and Annie, please tell me how it ends!
I don't really remember any more details on Anders either. I think the end of the book wrapped up quickly and without a lot of explanation, from what I remember. I don't recall what was going to happen with the research either.

Re: 2012 Reading Lists!
But Blush, my kid goes to bed at 7:30 or 8:00! :lol Granted that means I can't read during the day but I'm not sure I'd be inclined to anyway. Rowan, I started a spreadsheet yesterday too. The ongoing list on Goodreads is html, so not really copy/paste-able. And that annoyed me so now I have a sprea...

Re: It' December...what are you reading?
I finished "Defending Jacob". It was okay. Not the best ever but the pacing kept me going. I felt like the ending was rushed and not well written but overall I liked the book. Next up is either The Age of Miracles or the Cheryl Strayed book about the PC trail. Both are due back in about 10...

Re: It' December...what are you reading?
I finished Full Body Burden. Good book! I started Defending Jacob last night. Not sure I actually want to read it right now as it's about child murder and the town is named Newton. Interesting coincidence. It's not that I don't want to think about the issues. I'm just not convinced this author (and ...

Re: It' December...what are you reading?
Ro, it's really good. I'm about 1/2 through and am liking it. She weaves 2 narratives: one on the events of Rocky Flats and one of her personal/family life. Sometimes the timelines don't match up exactly so I wish there was a little bit more chronological organization. But otherwise, I really like it.
