Re: February!

Silvia - I liked Apples Never Fall but really hated the one before that: 9 Perfect Strangers. Funny. I read Olympus, Texas by Stacey Swann and really loved it. There's Greek/Roman mythology supposedly woven into but outside of the dogs' names I didn't recognize any of it. Clearly it wasn't necessary...

Re: February!

Last night I finished Colleen Hoover's new one, Reminders of Him which I liked. Her novels aren't award winners but I usually really enjoy them.

Not sure what's next on the pile!

Re: January 2022!

Glad you're enjoying it. I really liked The Martian and have been meaning to pick up Hail Mary. I read Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins this weekend and really liked it. It's kinda deserted island-y which I like. Speaking of which ... anyone watch Old the movie by M Night Shamalayan. It didn't have ...

Re: January 2022!

I started A Flicker in the Dark by Stacey Willingham last night. It's good but I think that I'm topping out on murdered teen girls/serial killer stories.

Re: January 2022!

I finished These Toxic Things by Rachel Howzell Hall which was fine. I actually didn't enjoy the writing and I felt the author was really heavy handed in some of the descriptions. I also read The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell which was a really good 4 star read. Not sure what's next. My pile is BIG.

Re: January 2022!

Jurassic Park was a really good book - I read it before there was a movie. Not sure if anyone reading it now would feel the same because of the movie (which was cool but the book was groundbreaking).

January 2022!

Starting the new year/new month! I have a bunch of ARCs on my Kindle that I want to tackle. I started Laura Lippman's collection of short stories Seasonal Work last night - I think it's out next week. I don't usually love short story collections but I got this one randomly from a publisher so I feel...

Re: November!

Bummer Blush! I just took out Perfect and Flawed from the library per your recommendation on this series. I've been in the mood for mindless YA - I'll still read/try the first one. I read Roxy this weekend which was annoying. I don't recommend it. It's a YA about drugs but they had all these names/a...

Re: November!

I really liked 28 Summers Blush. I don't love all Elin's books but this one was good!

Still on The Final Girl Support Group. I've also started Yolk on my phone as an egalley.

November!

:wave I started The Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix yesterday. I'm about halfway done and really liking it. I finished the egalley of Jodi Picoult's Wish You Were Here this weekend. It releases at the end of November. I liked it but it's got some heavy Covid themes in it so would offer tri...

Re: October!

I liked Rock, Paper, Scissors. It was very twisty at the end...maybe too twisty but fine. I also read Cackle by Rachel Harrison which was a cute, not scary, spooky story. I'm reading Last Summer by Jennifer Weiner. I had gotten an egalley of it before it was published and never got around to it. I'm...

Blush - I loved Ooona! Did you finish yet?

I'm still working on Rock, Paper, Scissors by Alice Feeney. It's good - I with i had more time with it.

What are you reading? I read Oh William by Elizabeth Strout. I got an unsolicited ARC of this so I felt obligated to read it. I don't get many things unsolicited - haha. It was fine. Very stream of consciousness similar to I am Lucy Barton. Up next is Apples Never Fall by Liane Moriarty which has di...

Thanks Bugsy for the options! I've definitely read some of those.

I'm working on the latest Samantha Dowling which is good - I just haven't had the time to finish it. Yesterday I nursed a migraine all day. :(

Re: September!

I started The Hostage by Clare Mackintosh which is good so far -- i'm only 40-50 pp in. Silvia -- I find myself giving up on books quicker/earlier now. I wonder though if you are going through so many books as samples before settling that you might need to tweak your selection process. Do you follow...

September!

I'm currently reading the latest Megan Abbott - The Turnout. I usually like her stuff. This one is good and I'm learning random ballet stuff which I like but I'm not really drawn in. I have to like at least one character and I know unlikable characters are in style right but it's tiring. I have a ni...
