I'm at 27% of American Dirt, but I'm not feeling it. I'll give it a few more pages.
Oh, yeah, a long time ago. I can't even remember what it was now! But I think I liked it.

Re: November!

I finished "One Plus One" by Jojo Moyes. Overall I enjoyed it. I had a hard time getting into it at the beginning and there were a lot of cringe moments for me, but I liked the ending, so that made up for it. Now I'm reading "Purity" by Jonathan Franzen. So far so good, but I jus...

Re: November!

I finished The Ultimate Age-Defying Plan by Mark Reinfeld. It had a few interesting nuggets of info, nothing earthshattering.

Now onto One Plus One by Jojo Moyes.

Bugsy wrote: Thu Oct 14, 2021 10:24 am Finished "A Man Called Ove." It was decent. Heartwarming in many ways, if a bit trite in others. Anyone who knows a curmudgeonly man "of a certain age" would probably appreciate it.
I haven't read the book but I saw the movie and it was a very nice movie.

Re: October!

I finally bailed on finishing that non-fiction Black Swans book. It was SO BORING.

Now I'm reading "Good Luck with That" by Kristan Higgins. So far it's good.

Re: September!

I finished "The Windup Girl". It never really got better, but I slogged through it. It was kind of interesting but definitely wouldn't be a recommendation. Now I'm reading "The Black Swan" which is non-fiction about unexpected events. I know, I'm like 10 years behind the curve on...

Re: August!

I finished "Exercised", a non-fiction about exercise. It was pretty interesting. Then I started "The Windup Girl" by Paolo Bacigalupi. It's set in Bangkok in the future (science fiction). I'm honestly not a huge fan, it's a little too "literary" for my liking if you kno...

Re: July!

I finished "Confessions on the 7:45". I liked it quite a lot. At the beginning I had a hard time getting into it but it really picked up steam.

Now I'm reading "Exercised: Why Something We Never Evolved to Do Is Healthy and Rewarding". So far it's fairly interesting.

Re: June!

I finished "This Little Light". While I liked it quite a lot at the beginning, I felt like it just went downhill as it went along. Wouldn't recommend it overall.

Now I'm reading "The Pleasure Trap" which is non-fiction about how we are motivated by pleasure.

Re: June!

I finished 28 Summers and found it unsatisfying. It was well written but I dunno. I was just mildly grumpy about the whole thing. Now I'm reading "This Little Light" by Lori Lansens. I feared it based on the title/cover but it's actually really good so far. And she's Canadian, unbeknownst ...

I finished The Switch a few days ago and enjoyed it. Light and fluffy.

Now I'm reading "Touching the Void" which is a memoir about mountain climbing. So far I'm not really into it, but maybe it will improve.

Yeah, I checked last night and that's definitely the name. Whoops. Anyway, I'm really enjoying it so far. It's very cute.

Re: April!

I started "The Swap", I forget who it's by. British chick lit. It's all right so far.

I am so happy to be done slogging through Red Mars. When I started it, it seemed fantastic. It was fantastic for like the first quarter of the book. Then it became an extremely long slog.

I'm reading "Red Mars" by Kim Stanley Robinson. It's an in-depth (fictional) look at setting up a colony on Mars. Really interesting and well written.

I finished "The Farm" by Joanne Ramos, really enjoyed it. Then I started "What She Knew" by Gilly Macmillan. So far I'm not really enjoying it, she's writing from two different people's viewpoints in the first person, but the writing style is exactly the same for both as far as I...

Re: November already

I finished "Educated" by Tara Westover. It was really quite gripping, I would recommend it. It's a non-fiction memoir. Then I started "The Farm" by Joanne Ramos. It irritated me nearly right away, because a character went to the hospital (this isn't really a spoiler, it's on like...
