Finished Station Eleven last night. Still so good! The HBO series is utter crap. I mean, you might enjoy it if you haven't read the book, but I don't see how anyone who loved the book could enjoy *that*. Ugh.
Blush, glad you loved Malibu Rising!

The Violence sounds interesting. Into Thin Air is fantastic! You should read Miracle in the Andes if you enjoy Thin Air. It's about that rugby team that ended up eating human remains to survive 😬 But it's awesome, I promise! Still rereading Station Eleven. It's the kind of book I like to savor, it's...
Re: February!
Finished The Ones We Choose. It was ok, but very forgettable. I think I'm definitely rereading Station Eleven. I'm 39% in, almost at the point of no return. Plus I don't remember much (what else is new?), so it should be fun. I'm 4 episodes into the show and I don't like it much, but I always love t...
Re: February!
I never finished Habit Swap, because I read before bed, and after I got through the first little bit, it told me to meditate. I can't meditate in bed. And I can't seem to motivate myself to read the book outside of bed, so I guess I'll never swap my habits.
Blush, I loved Malibu Rising!
Re: February!
Finished the 2 books I was reading. Unwind was ok, entertaining enough. Good for the genre, I guess. Leo will probably like it. Apples Never Fall FINALLY picked up in the second half and I ended up enjoying it. But the first half was painfully slow. Then I started The Ones We Choose by Julie...Clark...
Re: February!
Finished The Nine Lives of Rose Napolitano. Ended up skimming through huge sections because it was sooooo repetitive. Turns out 9 is way too many "what if" scenarios. 2 stars. Still reading Apples Never Fall, a little bit every day or every other day. I got to 35% last night and started to...
Re: February!
Rowan, I feel like I'm one of the few people who liked Nine Perfect Strangers. The plot may have been a little silly, but I was engrossed in all the backstories. In Apples I don't care about anything! Ugh.
Re: February!
Finished The Last House on the Street by Diane Chamberlain. The first half was SO SLOW. I can't believe all the 5-star reviews. I mean, there's a heartbreaking and infuriating story there (it's about segregation and racism and the civil rights movement, and the KKK makes an appearance.) but it took ...

Re: January 2022!
Korie, tell us more! Finished Project Hail Mary. Like I said, the scientific details were a bit much for me in some parts, but overall I loved the story! Highly recommended. I can't wait for the movie! With Ryan Gosling, no less :eat Now I have The Last House on the Street, the latest by Diane Chamb...

Re: January 2022!
I'm reading Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir, which I was really not sure about, because the scientific explanations go right over my head. But always after 2-3 pages of scientific explanations, the author sums it up in a couple of sentences that the lay person can understand. So I'm not lost, but I w...

Re: January 2022!
Finished The Andromeda Strain. I liked it overall, but as I said, there was a bit too much science for someone who's not familiar with the genre (me), and not enough fiction. And the ending was a bit anticlimactic. But I still enjoyed it! Might pick up the sequel, written by someone else after his d...

Re: January 2022!
Jurassic Park was a really good book - I read it before there was a movie. Not sure if anyone reading it now would feel the same because of the movie (which was cool but the book was groundbreaking). I saw the movie back when it was released in the 90s, with the rest of mankind. I'm curious to read...

Re: January 2022!
Finished Timeline on Friday. I loved the first half, the second one dragged and bored me a little. Still a good read, but not a great one. Then I started The Andromeda Strain, also by Michael Crichton. It's his firs book and was released in 1969, I think. It's verrrry sci-fi-y, full of technical stu...

Re: January 2022!
I gave up on Anxious People. Not for me. It's the second book by this guy I've started and couldn't get into.
I'm reading Timeline by Michael Crichton. Fun so far, though the part I am now is less so.

Re: January 2022!
I finished The Echo Chamber by John Boyne today, which Blush brought to my attention (thanks, Blush!). It's a satire mostly about how social media has been running our lives. I found it very funny, though some situations were a bit much. Definitely not for everyone. Now I've started Anxious People, ...
Re: December!
Ooh, it certainly does! Added to my list, thanks.
Re: December!
I finished Oona Out of Order. Loved it! Thanks for the recommendation, Blush. Which John Boyne are you reading?
