Re: No March thread yet, uh?

Oh my god, you guys ... Catching Fire was SO good. But why, oh why, didn't anyone warn me not to start reading these books until the third one was out?! Waiting for the ending will be AGONIZING! I know. I'm dying for the third book to come out. I think I whipped through the first two in about 3 day...

Re: It's February! What are you reading?

I finished Game Change - LOVED IT. The last part of the book regarding McCain and Palin was extremely interesting.

Right now I'm almost done with the new Dan Brown book - The Lost Symbol. It's ok - I like the basis of the book but his writing irritates me.

Re: It's February! What are you reading?

I'm in the middle of "Game Change" by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin. It's sort of gossipy but in a good way. I really like it. I also read "The Hockey Dad Chronicles: An Indentured Parent's Season on the Rink" by Ed Wenk. Very fun and light. A lot of it made me laugh because i...

Re: It's January - what are you reading?

I finished The Hunger Games yesterday. Wow, what a good story! I really loved it. Didn't some of you guys say that the rest of the trilogy wasn't that good, though? What are they about? So far only the second book is out - "Catching Fire". I loved it. I think Beverly said she felt the sto...

Re: It's January - what are you reading?

I finished Under the Dome by Stephen King last night. LOVED it. Well developed characters and the ending was not what I expected at all. I just started In the Heart of the Sea - The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex by Nathaniel Philbrick at lunch. It's the true story that inspired Moby Dick. I'm only ...

Anna wrote:I am trying to read "Cleaved" by Julie Powell (she wrote Julie and Julia)
Anna, I only liked the middle of that book! For me it started slow, got good and then just limped to the end. I skipped entire chapters at one point.

I forgot I had Under the Dome by Stephen King and started that last night. I'm about 50 pages in and totally hooked.

Re: It's January - what are you reading?

I'm reading The Boleyn Inheritance by Philippa Gregory. It's the first of hers I've read (I found it in English at the Salvation Army, which is why I started out of order), and I'm liking it very much. Read The Other Boleyn Girl. It's fantastic - My favorite of hers. The movie did it no justice at ...

Re: It's January - what are you reading?

I finished 769 page "The Terror" by Dan Simmons. Once I got about 200 pages in I couldn't put it down. It's a fictional account of what happened to the 1845 Franklin Expeditions search for the Northwest Passage. It's supposed to be a suspense novel about a "creature" that is out ...

Re: It's January - what are you reading?

I'm about 100 pages into the 700+ page "The Terror" by Dan Simmons. I think this might be one I have to take breaks from!

I think I'm going to start "Marie Antoinette" by Antonia Fraser tonight.

Re: It's December - what are you reading?

Rach I couldn't even finish A Short History of Women. I finished Cleaving by Julie Powell. It was decent but I didn't really like the last few chapters and ending. Right now I'm reading The Paris Vendetta by Steve Berry. Love it, but I love all his books. After this I still have 3 books out from the...

Rachael, which Tori Spelling book did you read? I kind of liked her first one but the second one I couldn't get through.

Re: It's December - what are you reading?

I finished The Murder of King Tut by James Patterson. Loved the portions that told the story of Tut and the story of the person that found the tomb. Hated that James Patterson put chapters in for "present day" and that he was solving the mystery. I eventually quit reading those chapters. R...

Re: It's December - what are you reading?

I loved Say When by Elizabeth Berg. The Murder of King Tut by James Patterson is annoying so far and I'm only on chapter 6. I may just throw in the towel. There was a reason I quit reading James Patterson books!!!

I think I'm going to start The Wild Things by Dave Eggers tonight.

I read The Art of Mending by Elizabeth Berg - loved it. I checked out a few of her other books. I also whipped thought A Touch of Dead by Charlaine Harris. Re: It's December - what are you reading?

I finished up The White Queen by Phillippa Gregory. It was a good read and I love reading about that time period - fiction or not.

I have The Murder of King Tut by James Patterson, A Touch of Dead by Charlaine Harris and The Wild Things by Dave Eggers waiting for me at the library.

Re: It's December - what are you reading?

I'm almost done with Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger. It was a little slow to start but I'm really enjoying it now.

Next I'm going to read Last Words by George Carlin - should be a quick read and tomorrow I'm picking up The White Queen by Phillippa Greggory from the library.

Re: It's November! What are you reading?

I finished up The 19th Wife. It was decent but I feel like the author didn't quite tie everything together at the end. 4 of my requested books at the library all became available at the same time! So I'm going to be reading: Julie & Julia 365 days, 524 recipes and 1 tiny apartment kitchen by Jul...

Re: It's November! What are you reading?

Bugsy that is why I can't read short stories....that drives me crazy.

And I got much more into the Sookie books as I went along. Jeff got me the box set of the first 6 or 7 books and the first two I was kinda of "eh" over but starting really getting into the characters as I went along.
