Re: It's November! What are you reading?

I gave up on The Childrens Story - could not get into it.

I picked up The 19th Wife by Dave Eforgettherestofhisname and The Castle in the Forest by Norman Mailer. I started 19th Wife last night - it's good so far.

Re: It's November! What are you reading?

Rach, I finished "Catching Fire" in 2 days. It was excellent and the story line towards the middle/end was totally not what I expected. I wonder when Book 3 will come out since it's a trilogy. I just started reading The Third Secret by Steve Berry. I'm not liking it very much though so I m...

Re: It's November! What are you reading?

I just finished The Hunger Games. AWESOME BOOK. I loved it. I picked it up last night and finished it at lunch today - I couldn't put it down. I'm buying it for my Dad for Christmas, I think he'll like it. I'm going to start on The Children's Book tonight. EDITED TO ADD: After looking on Amazon to s...

Re: It's November! What are you reading?

I just finished Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella. It was a cute fluff book. I also read Perfectly True Tales of a Perfect Size 12. It sucked and I have no idea why I read the whole thing. Right now I'm in the middle of The Venetian Betrayal by Steve Berry. It's really good, but I love his books. I h...

Re: It's October - what are you reading?

I finished The Heretics Daughter by Kathleen Kent. It was ok. I kept expecting.....more. And it never happened - the books just plodded along with a few little interesting parts here and there and then ended. I also read the Undomestic Goddess by Sophie Kinsella. It was a decent fluff book. Right no...

Re: It's October - what are you reading?

Rachael, I requested "Touch of Dead" at the library. I think I'm like 50 out of 97 holds though so it might be awhile! Tonight I got: The Heretics Daughter, The Venetian Betrayal by Steve Berry and The Undomesticated Goddess by Sophie Kinsilla. The Heretics Daughter looks really good, I th...

I couldn't get past Eric Bana playing the male lead and never saw it. :phbtt! I'll be curious to hear what you think of it though.

Re: It's October - what are you reading?

I finished Sleepwalking while awake Elizabeth Berg. It was pretty good but really sad. Ever since I had Jake I have a really hard time reading stuff about bad parent/child relationships. I also finished The Templar Legacy by Steve Berry. I love his books. I just picked up three more books from the l...

Re: It's October - what are you reading?

I just finished The Aviary Gate by Katie Hickman. It was pretty decent - historical fiction about the Ottoman Empire weaved with modern day. I finally got a library card yesterday. I didn't have much time to look around because Jake was not in the mood to be in there. I picked up a book from the new...

I *LOVED* The Time Travelers Wife. Not so sure how I feel about it being made into a movie.

I'm about 50 pages into Celebutantes. I forget who wrote it. It's pretty annoying so far......I picked it up because it looked mindless and fun.

I really need a good fun beach read type book

Re: It's June - what are you reading?

I'm not sure if I posted this but I read Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner, it's the follow up to Good in Bed. I really liked it, though some parts dragged a little bit. I'm waiting for my mom to finish Columbine. I got it for her for mother's day - I want to read it though! Right now I'm half hearte...

Re: It's June - what are you reading?

I'm borrowing "Dead Until Dark" by Charlaine Harris from a friend. I'm about 3/4 through it now, and...meh. It's ok, I guess, but I don't feel too inspired to read the rest of the series. It feels so cheesy. It's definitely not great literature - but I do think it's a fun, light series. I...

Re: It's June - what are you reading?

I read the entire Twilight series in a week. I'm pretty sure I lost brain cells.

I need a new book. I'm still reading The Making of a Chef by Michael Ruhlman. It's good, but I can't get into it. I think I need something light and trashy.

Re: It's May - what are you reading?

I'm reading "Son of a Witch", aka the sequel to Wicked. (When I have time to read, that is, which is just on the subway lately...) I loved Son of a Witch. The most recent one, which I can't remember the name of (it's about the Lion) is just terrible. I finished the new Sookie Stackhouse n...

Re: It's May - what are you reading?

I just finished Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris. I really liked it. I'm trying to decide whether I want to read the rest or just watch the series on DVD. Thoughts? I've read all the Sookie Stackhouse novels and loved every single one. I'm dying for the next one to come out. The HBO series is fa...

I just finished Mary Queen of Scotland and the Isles by Margaret George. It was fantastic.

I think I might start reading In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan. I also have a bunch of Charlaine Harris books I should start.

Re: Discuss: Why do some authors get bad over time?

It seems like a lot of them just keep writing the same thing over and over and over. I used to really like James Patterson until every.single.book was the same story, just different names. Now he has a new book out every week it seems like. I can't read them anymore. I think Stephen King at least wr...

Re: It's March - what are you reading?

I'm reading The Reader by Bernhard Schlink (sp?). I like it, but that's easy since I'd already liked the movie. Crystal, did you finish the book? I haven't seen the movie (but I really want to!) but I didn't much like the book. I didn't care about Hanna OR Michael. Now I'm reading Mary Queen of Sco...
