Re: Its Feb - what are you reading?

I just got notice that this book is waiting for me in the library. It's called "The Way We Eat: Why Our Food Choices Matter," and it's for a 1-credit class I'm taking called Human-Animal Symbiosis (I have to write a paper about it). It should be interesting.

Re: Its Jan 2008 - what are you reading?

I'm loving "The Virgin Homeowner." It has a lot of good information about the inner workings of houses and how to care for them. I'm highlighting in it as I read :nerd, and I'm guessing it will be referenced many many times in the upcoming few years.

Re: Its Jan 2008 - what are you reading?

Yesterday I finished the "His Dark Materials" trilogy. I liked it! The friend I borrowed them from told me to keep the books until I find someone to pass them on to. Any takers?

Now I think I'm going to start reading "The Virgin Homeowner" to hopefully learn some useful tips.

Re: Its Jan 2008 - what are you reading?

Last night I finished "The Subtle Knife," the second in the "His Dark Materials" trilogy by Phillip Pullman. I'll start "The Amber Spyglass" today, probably.

I started "The Golden Compass" a couple of days ago. I'm not too far into it yet, but I can tell that I'll like it. Sucked me right in!

I just started on "The Günter Grass Reader," but I'm not sure how much I'll get into it. I'm not sure what else I might try.

You guys are inspirational. All throughout my childhood I was a voracious reader, like some of you are, but I really fell away from it sometime during high school or college. I've read a good 4-5 books now this summer, and it feels great! I was thinking that once school starts, I'm going to start re...

Oh I'm totally into Pottermania. I've read all of those books at least twice. Actually...I will go buy the book, but I think it doesn't come out until Saturday. Maybe I'll just wait until then. I'm going to have to read it right away or else the ending will probably get leaked to me, and then I'll b...

How right you are! I don't think I've ever read Hardy, but now I do need a new book to start. Something a bit...lighter than ZATAOMM, I think. :giggle

Yeah there is a wiki entry. And yes, the narrator and Phaedrus are one in the same, but I suspected that early in the book. :shrug Different tastes, I guess.

I don't have any suggestions for you, Crystal, but I'm sure you'll find one to take along. Last Friday I finally finished "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance." Overall, I really liked it and its message, but maaaaaan was it long. Some parts weren't so bad, and I'm sure it helped tha...

Still slogging through "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance," but I haven't read much in the last week. I'm about 2/3-3/4 of the way through it. Really enjoying it so far!

What? Really? :lol Why did it make you want to kill yourself? It just makes me really curious to hear more about this Phaedrus character. Plus, I guess I've been in a somewhat philosophical mindset lately, so I'm really finding it appealing.

I'm just about halfway through "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance." I had heard that it's a difficult book, but I'm really enjoying it. Plus, it makes me want to get a motorcycle even more than I did before, even though it's not really about motorcycles.

It's summer! I have time for reading! :) I finished my re-read of the fifth Harry Potter book, and I immediately started rereading the sixth. :lol After this, though, I'm going to move onto something else. We have a paperback copy of Slaughterhouse 5. J had it, probably from high school or something...

Oooh, a book topic I can contribute to! I've read both "Angela's Ashes" and "'Tis," and I loved them both. I think I read them when they were both pretty new, so it's been a while, but at the time they were some of my favorite books. Sad, yes, but very well-written (from what I r...

:rofl This thread is cracking me up!! Crystal, dude sounds like a whackjob. That "line" is seriously the worst thing I've heard/read in a while. I wish you luck in dealing with him, because I'd be super skeeved out to even be in the same room as him. I wonder if he's even aware of how cree...
