Re: December! What are you reading?
I have to recommend Mrs. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Its a YA read but I liked it very much. Inside of the book there are retro pics which really tie the story together.

Re: December! What are you reading?
Just finished "I Am J" which is a YA novel about a transboy. Really interesting and sad. It's something I really never thought about. Not sure what's next on the pile. I still have the 3rd "Girl Who..." but I have to be in the mood for that. Movie for the 1st in the series comes ...

Re: December! What are you reading?
Spudd, I've heard good things about that book. You'll have to let me know how it is once you're done (if you remember).

December! What are you reading?
Need to start a new book...
Just thought I would put in a placeholder.
Is it possible to read 18 books this month so that I can hit 100 books this year? Very unlikely I think.

Re: November! What are you reading?
Blush...I would have the same concerns. In CT, you can go to any state library as long as you hold a library card in your town/city. My city's library is great but is downtown, no parking, out of the way but the next town over is decent and has great parking. There is also interlibrary loan at the l...

Re: November! What are you reading?
Finished The Girl Who Played with Fire. Thumbs up. Its funny though sometimes you see where the translation is just awkward. I don't normally read translated books so it may be more obvious for me. I've got the 3rd in my pile from the library but there's a few I need to tackle first. Last night I al...

I'm almost done The Girl Who Played with Fire. Love it! HOpefully I can finish tonight but we're going out TOTing so who knows when we'll be back. I placed a hold at the library for the final book in the series.
I've got a stack of Kathy Reichs that I need to get to.

October! What are you reading?
So after trying to get interested in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo at least 3 separate times I took it on the plane to Germany with me. I'm finally into it enough (took about 50 pgs) and I'm really enjoying it. I know that I'm pretty much the last human on the planet that hasn't read it but I'm gl...

Re: It's August - what are you reading?
Mellen, about half of what you picked up at the library I have on my list of holds at the library. Too funny! I started Turn of Mind by Alice LaPlante last night. Its the story of a 60 something doctor who has dementia and is accused of murdering her best friend. It's written from her point of view ...

It's August - what are you reading?
New thread!
I've had some good ones recently.
One Summer by David Baldacci. He usually does thriller type novels but this is more character/family/drama driven. I really enjoyed it.
Creep by Jennifer Hillier. Nice scary murder thriller. Her debut and she did a nice job with it. 2 thumbs up.

Re: July! What are you reading?
I read The Cradle by Patrick Somerville last night. It was soooo good. I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. Its hard to describe it without giving it all away but it revolves around a married pregnant couple and in particular the husband's journey to find the wife an old cradle that she *has...

Re: July! What are you reading?
Swamplandia! was good but weird at times. In Zanesville was a recommendation from a daily book email I get. It was a story about 2 teenage girls (in the late 1970s?). Easy read with a few parts that I laughed out loud. I read Wicked Appetite by Janet Evanovich which is a new character series for her...

Re: July! What are you reading?
I finished Faith by Jennifer Haigh earlier in the week. I really like it but I have liked almost all of her books. It takes place in Boston in the 90's when all the priest controversies were going down. Its told in the voice of a woman who's brother (a priest) has been accused of molesting a young b...

Re: June: What are you reading?
I finished Sing You Home by Jodi Picoult this morning. I know people either really like her or really don't. I admit that I'm in the "like" camp although I felt that this story was very thrown together, the husband was made out to be a moron and the pieces just fit together too well. I wou...
