EW EW EW. I'd remove him as a friend. Or at least delete all his wall messages. Is he sending you private messages too? Ew. ETA: I just read your wall. He is slimy. And clearly he does not get that friends can have inside jokes (or ones that they share with TH friends). ETA more: He's not cute, Mari...

I'm reading Case Histories by Kate Atkinson. It's a crime novel, set in the UK, but it feels different from a normal crime novel; she really paints the characters well (I actually care about them) and it's not dry. So far the first two chapters have been about 2 entirely different sets of characters...

Mainly healthy ones, LB. I have these schemes of cooking actual recipes and then I just end up throwing meals together. I have The Healthy Family: Cooking for the Rushed by Sandi Richard on hold at the library for me right now; just waiting for it to come in. She has a show on Food Network Canada th...

Spudd, it is all like that, and I was annoyed at first too. There's a reason I don't read short stories! But it all sort of gets tied up in the end, and in some of the vignettes you learn more about a previously mentioned character. It's all kind of intertwined. It's not my fave Maeve Binchy, but it...

I just finished Whitethorn Woods by Maeve Binchy. I'm so glad she returned to setting a book in Ireland, it seems more natural for her. I'm reading Size 12 is not fat by Meg Cabot, and although I'm only a couple of chapters in I am really annoyed by a mistake I caught. In the first few pages the mai...

I just finished Which Brings me to You by Steve Almond (author of Candyfreak and Julianna Baggott. While I liked the premise (it's told through a series of letters between a man and woman) it just sort of left me cold. Right now I'm listening to Mindless Eating: Why we eat more than we think by Bria...

Fun! I'm turning the ones I don't care about reading green. 1. The Da Vinci Code (Dan Brown) 2. Pride and Prejudice (Jane Austen) 3. To Kill A Mockingbird (Harper Lee) 4. Gone With The Wind (Margaret Mitchell) (started it about 3 times) 5. The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (Tolkein) 6. The L...

I just finished Milk Glass Moon by Adriana Trigiani. It's part of a series and I like her characters. Silvia, I picked up Leviathan when you first mentioned it, but I haven't read it yet. There's one more that's due at the library before that one-- One Mississippi by Mark Childress. I have no idea w...
