Re: It's October - what are you reading?

I just ready "Touch of Dead". It's a collection of five short stories about Sookie Stackhouse. It wasn't as good as the whole books, but it was nice to get some Sookie-ness in.

Re: Anyone seen The Time Traveler's Wife?

I HATED IT!!!! I was mad for days! They ruined such a good story. It sucked out all of the personality and quirkiness. BOO on the movie!

Re: It's October - what are you reading?

I recently read: Dewey: The Small-town Library Cat Who Touched the World by Vicki Myron (nice story, light read) The Rescue by Nicholas Spark (same as the rest of his books) The Stepford Wives by Ira Levin (good! I had really scary dreams the night reading it, though!) Now I'm reading "The Miss...

Blush wrote:I'm reading "Such a Pretty Fat" by Jen Lancaster. I enjoyed her first memoir, "Bitter is the new Black" so I'm back for more.
I read "Pretty In Plaid" by her a few months ago and thought it was very entertaining. Wish my library had her first two books!

Re: It's October - what are you reading?

I've read a lot in the last 10 days or so! The Song is You by Arthur Phillips (it was okay) The Sand Castle by Rita Mae Brown (nice story, very short and easy) Ms. Hempel Chronicles by Sarah Shun-lien Bynum (I was into at first, but then got really bored) Fancy White Trash by Marjetta Geerling (very...

Re: It's September - what are you reading?

I didn't read Nanny Diaries, but Cary and I found the movie to be dark and unfunny.

I'm reading "The Story Sisters" by Alice Hoffman. I can't put it down, even though I feel like it is filling me up with sad darkness!

Re: It's September - what are you reading?

I just finished "I Love You, Miss Huddleston: And Other Inappropriate Longings of My Indiana Childhood " by Phillip Gulley. It was okay. Barely okay. Now I'm reading some Nicholas Sparks (they're all pretty much the same). It's my 64th book this year.

Re: It's September - what are you reading?

I loved "The Help". I highly suggest it, if you haven't read it.

I think I've ready about 65 books this year. Not sure what I'm going to start next.

Re: It's September - what are you reading?

I finished Laura Rider's Masterpiece. I'm not a big fan of Jane Hamilton. I know Map of the World and Book of Ruth are very popular, but I find her style to be kind of boring.

Now I'm reading "The Help" and am totally sucked in.

Re: It's September - what are you reading?

I just finished "Change of Heart" by Jodi Piccolt. It wasn't as compelling as "My Sister's Keeper", but the ended didn't enrage me like "My Sister's Keeper" either. I'll probably keep reading her books if the library has them, but I won't go out of my way to hunt them d...

I finished the most recent Sookie book. Then I read "Pretty in Plaid" by Jen Lancaster (very funny!). I can't recall the name of the book I'm reading now. Something from the library.

Re: It's August - what are you reading?

I'm reading "Nights in Rodanthe" by Nicholas Sparks. His books are all basically the same. I read "The Time Travelers Wife" last week. Liked it a lot. I tried to read "The Almost Moon" by the author of "The Lovely Bones" (Alice something, I think), but just co...
