Re: Anyone read The Three?

It ties some of it in but you could probably read it as a stand alone. It's completely different from The Three. I'd really just try to find a summary of The Three so you know where the major characters end up.

Re: Anyone read The Three?

I listened to the audio book. I didn't love it but I don't think I could have read the paper version. I mostly read it because I wanted to read the next book Day Four which had great reviews.......and it was really good. Unless you really want to read the series I'd bail. Or find a cliff notes versi...

Re: December! What are you reading?

I finished Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs. Last book in the trilogy. It was really good and I loved the ending.

I started Winter by Marissa Meyer last night, which is the last book in The Lunar Chronicles.

Re: December! What are you reading?

I started Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs, the last book in the trilogy. It's pretty good so far. Took me a little bit to get into it since it's been awhile since the last book.

Re: November! What are you reading?

Blush I just finished up the The Admissions by Meg Mitchell Moore too! :high5 It was really good despite some predictable parts.

Not sure what's up next. Probably Upright Beasts.

Re: November! What are you reading?

I sort of skimmed the rest of Witches. So dry. Read Slade House by David Mitchell - it was excellent Read Tour of Bones by Denise Inge - it's about this woman and her family that ended up living in a charnel house and then she ends up researching other houses and the background. It was pretty intere...

Re: November! What are you reading?

I finished The Heart Goes Last by Margaret Atwood. It was pretty good. The ending wasn't great but the overall story was good. Now I'm reading The Witches by Stacy Schiff. I was excited for this book but I'm about 3 chapters in and BORED. I'll give it another 2-3 chapters and decided whether to bail.

Re: October: what are you reading?

I read Welcome to the Night Vale. I liked it but it was weird.

Now I'm about halfway through The Heart Goes Last by Margaret Atwood. It's excellent so far. Curious to see if I'll like the ending. The goodreads crowd seems very split on this book, people either love it or hate it.

Re: October: what are you reading?

Wait, there are three more epilogue stories for Wool? Written by Hugh Howey? Dammit, I need to go find these. I always get so confused trying to find his stuff on Amazon. Finished The Perfect Comeback of Caroline Jacobs. It was good, fairly mindless. I have Dietland at home, but can't seem to get in...

Re: October: what are you reading?

I love Jennifer Weiner's older stuff. Not a fan of her last few books at all.

Finished After the Parade - it was good, a little slow moving.

Started The Perfect Comeback of Caroline Jacobs last night. I like it so far.

Re: October: what are you reading?

Sil we agree on something! :high5 I don't get the Rainbow Rowell hype either. I've never been able to finish one of her books.

I'm giving up on this crazy book Jeff got me to read that was translated from Polish. I'm going to start After the Parade at lunch today.

Re: October: what are you reading?

Finished A Window Opens by Elisabeth Egan. It was pretty good but very predictable. Husband loses job, wife goes back to work, works too hard, misses kids, realizes family is what is really important. Jeff bought me a book, it's called The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski. It was originally written in...

Re: September! What are you reading?

Finished reading The Prize - Who's in Charge of America's Schools. It was really good, but really sad that the money has basically been squandered. An article just popped up yesterday in my feed about how all the $$$ didn't really change anything in Newark. I tried to read Purity - just no. I'm over...

Re: September! What are you reading?

Bugsy, yeah. The Wool Omnibus was the "full" Wool book - the author originally released it as 5 individual e-books. Then there is Shift and Dust, books #2 and #3 in the "Silo Series". They are both really good. If you liked Wool, read those! I think Spudd is reading Shift now.

Re: September! What are you reading?

Finished Everybody Rise by Stephanie Clifford. Meh. Not sure why it was on all the "summer must read lists". I'm about halfway through The Prize - Who's in Charge of America's Schools. It's about when Mark Zuckerberg pledged $100 million to Newark schools and no one could really figure out...

Re: September! What are you reading?

Finished Day Four by Sarah Lotz - it was quite good! The ending pulled everything together quite nicely and left room open for the next book without being annoying. I'm about halfway through Everybody Rise by Stephanie Clifford. I read a review that described it as "Prep meets Devil Wears Prada...

Re: September! What are you reading?

Started reading Day Four by Sarah Lotz. It's a horror book about a cruise ship that suddenly loses power in the middle of the ocean. So far it's really good.

Re: August, WTF? What are you reading?

Finally finished Girls in White Dresses on audio book. Meh. It was ok.

Skim read Primates of Park Avenue. Didn't like it much.

I have The Invasion of the Tearling and and The Oregon Trail at home.
