Re: November!

Last week I read a Tessa Dare, don't remember the name. The beginning was funny, but then it just got a bit silly. Plus there were so many sex scenes it got a bit boring. I mean, I enjoy a sex scene here and there, but this book had too many! I'm ok with the Bridgerton series: one or two scenes in a...

Re: November!

Finished Fractured, was not impressed. I really liked the beginning, but then it just... fizzled out. Ended up finding it kind of boring and anticlimactic.

Then I started a period romance by Tessa Dare.

Re: November!

I hate when there are no chapters, Ro. Or when they're insanely long, like 50 pages. Give me something I can work with! I finished The Collective. Loved it. Then I read another one by her, If I Die Tonight, also loved it. Both page turners, imo. Now I'm reading Fractured by Catherine Mckenzie. Like ...

Re: November!

I think I'd looked into it before and realized I didn't qualify, but I'd forgotten. That's kinda silly, isn't it? if I'm reading and reviewing in English, what does it matter where I am physically? Anyway, thanks!

Re: November!

Ro, do you have to post a review of those ARCs on goodreads? And how do you get them?

Re: November!

Finished The Glass Hotel. Her writing is as good as always, but the plot was less than exciting. Then I started The Love Hypothesis because of all the hype, but I wasn't feeling it. I'm not much of a rom com reader, but sometimes I enjoy them. This one seemed so painfully predictable. Anyone read it...

Re: October

Blush, I saw you gave The Love of My Life only 3 stars. Sorry it didn't work better for you. For me, the fact that it didn't know what it wanted to be was part of its charm. It didn't follow any formulas.

Re: October

I finished Salem's Lot and really enjoyed it. I didn't expect much, and it ended up being much more fast-paced than his usual stuff, so that was great. Now I'm reading The Glass Hotel by Emily St John Mandel. I'm at 34% and it's no Station 11 or Sea of Tranquility, but I'm enjoying it. Unfortunately...

Re: October

Hope you enjoy The Love of My Life, Blush.

I finally finished 11/22/63. I liked it even more than the first time. SUCH a great book! Then I started Salem's Lot. I'm at 10% and enjoying it so far.

Re: October

I found The Stand super boring :crystal Great beginning, super draggy after that.

It took me 3 tries to get past the beginning of The Shining. I did end up giving it 4 stars, though.

Haven't read the other 2.

Re: October

Did you like Salem's Lot?

About Acts of Violet, it just doesn't sound as compelling as Oona.

Re: October

I finished Acts of Violet by Margarita Montimore. I thought it was just ok. I loved her previous book, Oona Out of Order. Oh, I'm sad to hear that. I loved Oona and have been putting off reading Acts of Violet because how could it live up? Oona had such an interesting concept. Also, have you read S...

Re: October

I'm very slowly rereading 11.22.63. Last week I watched the series, so didn't have much time to read (loved it, thought they did a very good job) and this week, as you know, I've been too distracted with the election to focus much, but when I do manage to focus on the book, I'm really enjoying it. I...

Re: September!

Ro, I liked the first 2 episodes. We'll see. In the book he just spent 2 pages talking about Moxie (the soda). This is what drives me insane with Stephen King. So much unnecessary stuff. I did love the general story of the book, but I only gave it 4 stars because I thought it dragged a little.

Re: September!

Finished Ghosted by Rosie Walsh. Loved it too. I might look for the books the author wrote under the name Lucy Robinson, though apparently those are supposed to be more chick-lit-y. I gave up on rereading Outlander. Not sure what's next. Last night and the night before I reread the beginning of 11.2...

Re: September!

I haven't read a single positive review of One Italian Summer from my goodreads contacts, so I think I'll pass. I put The House at the Edge of Night on my list, Blush. It sounds up my alley. I read The Love of My Life by Rosie Walsh this past week. Really liked it. The blurb makes it sound like a my...

Re: September!

Oops, sorry, I should have started September the last time I posted. Spudd, sorry you didn't love Then She Was Gone. I thought it was so good. I mean, somewhat predictable, but still good. Also, please let me know what you think of A Canticle for Leibowitz. I've been curious about it, but I wonder i...

Yeah, let's hope the third one picks up! It has to at some point or she wouldn't have written 257 sequels, right?

Re: August!

I finished a book! :yay A short one, but still. Stephen King's Elevation. It was ok. Readable, but I was utterly unimpressed. If it's magical realism he was going for, Latin Americans do it much better. I'm also half-assedly rereading Outlander (the first in the series) because I'd like to watch the...
