Re: May!
Oh yay!! So glad you loved PHM, Spudd! I loved it too! The only reason I gave it only 4 stars instead of 5 is because I'm too stupid for all the science bits, and got bored occasionally. But it's such a great story! Leo just finished it and liked it too. Finished Pretty Things. It's supposed to be a...
Re: May!
Finished Finlay Donovan. It was ok. Had its funny moments. 3 stars.
Then I started Pretty Things by Janelle Brown. I've only read a few pages.

Re: May!
I'm reading Finlay Donovan is killing it. Based on the premise (woman gets mistakenly hired as contract killer), I thought it would be either incredibly stupid or very funny. So far I'm finding it funny. It has a bit of a Desperate Housewives vibe in its dark humor.
Re: May!
Spudd, I loved Project Hail Mary!
Read The Good Lie by A. R. Torre. It was ok. Not as good as another I've read by her (Every Last Secret?)

Re: May!
Read Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren. My fingers are sticky from all the sugar. 2 stars.
May!
Read the 5th Bridgerton (To Sir Phillip, with love). Didn't like it. The love interest is boring, and it's all super forced. Poor Eloise, she deserved better.

Re: April! (the month not the person)
Loved the 6th Bridgerton! I think it was my favorite in the series so far. Then I started the 5th, which I had skipped but now decided to try again. I'd started it once, but found it boring. Does anyone else enjoy these books, or is it just me? I feel that once you get past the cringey covers, they'...

Re: April! (the month not the person)
Hm, I might pick up Mr Mercedes one day.
Finished Violeta. Loved it. Then I started the 6th in the Bridgerton series (When He Was Wicked.)

Re: April! (the month not the person)
Couldn't get into The Golden Couple after 8% or so, let me know if i should insist, Rowan. Spudd, is Mr Mercedes too horribly violent? His books often are, and that's a turn-off for me usually, but I've enjoyed some of them. Are you gonna read the whole trilogy? I finished The One. It started off we...

Re: April! (the month not the person)
Spudd - not sure if this applies but I have heard that if you're reading on a kindle that if you take it offline after downloading the book then it can't be returned until you hook up to wifi again. That makes total sense, but if she wants to read something else on kindle before she'll need to conn...

Re: April! (the month not the person)
Spudd, sorry it stopped working. How long can you keep borrowed books?
Blush, that's sweet. And I liked that book.
I'm reading The One by John Marrs. I'm enjoying it so far. There's a netflix series now, no?

Re: April! (the month not the person)
I read The Overnight Guest by Heather Gudenkauf last week. 3.5 stars. It was very gripping, but it left a lot of unanswered questions. Then I read Sea of Tranquility, the new Emily St. John Mandel. LOVED it! The beginning was a little slow, it didn't suck me right in like Station Eleven, and the sev...
Re: March!
Finished The Four Winds. Loved it. Loved the characters, the pacing, the historical background. Now I'm reading The Overnight Guest by Heather Gudenkauf. I've enjoyed all the books I've read by her. For some reason I haven't read the last 3, though now that I started this one I'm wondering why the h...
Re: March!
I'm only at 30%, but I'm enjoying it. Yes, it's grim, but it's the kind of grim I can take. What I find depressing is reading about abuse and addiction. Poverty and hardship I usually can handle.OK I finished The Four Winds. Excellent but definitely not uplifting.
Re: March!
Finished Fat Chance. It was ok. I'm too old for it. Blush, I started The Four Winds too! :high five I'd been avoiding it because everyone keeps saying it's beyond depressing and I wasn't in the mood, but now it's been released here and I thought "eh, why not, at least it's in Portuguese" a...
Re: March!
The Silent Patient had a decent resolution, it didn't make me roll my eyes. 3 stars.
Now I'm reading Fat Chance by Crystal... Maldonado? It's about a fat teen and her love life and dramas. Where were all these books about fat teens when I was one? Oh yeah, the authors hadn't been born yet.

Re: March!
Glad you enjoyed Into Thin Air, Spudd!
I finished The Last. Loved it. Now I'm 65% into The Silent Patient and unimpressed, though I don't hate it.

Re: March!
Finished Heads You Win by Jeffrey Archer. His writing is kinda cheesy, but there's a lot of action. I could have done without all the British politics talk, though. Plus he tried to do a Sliding Doors thing and botched the ending. But overall it was enjoyable. 3 stars. I'm about 25% into The Last by...
Re: March!
I think the movie you're thinking of is Alive, from 1993, which is based on the same story. The book Miracle in the Andes is from 2006 and was written by one of the survivors.
