Yikes! I can't believe it's a new month already!!!

Since I'm doing NaNo, I'm reading books on writing:

Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott

and

No Plot? No Problem! by Chris Baty (founder of NaNoWriMo)

James Frey on Oprah (A Million Little Pieces)

Did anyone else see this yesterday? I really enjoyed watching him and seeing Harpo staff members talk about their reactions to the book - makes me even more excited to read it!

The author seems like a pretty decent guy, all things considered. I'm glad that he was able to turn his life around!

How many books in your "to read" pile?

I know that Crystal and I both have, like, 50 books sitting around just waiting to be read.

What about you guys? How many books do you have that you are waiting to read? Do you tend to keep a bunch in the pipeline or just buy them (or get them from the library or whatever) as you need/want them?

Thanks for the hugs. Medication, therapy, and prayer have helped immensely. I don't suffer nearly as much as I used to . . . now my OCD is like an after-thought . . . hardly interrupts my life at all.

Oh no - you are *very* aware . . . you are compelled to do something precisely because you don't want to (or should not) do it. It's sort of like Tourette's Syndrome - where people blurt out things that are offensive (curse words, racial epithets, etc.) and it's not because they want to say those th...

I did find the story about the boy in the hotel strange. About how he has OCD and wanted to touch the boy's head and how that would be wrong because he's gay. I just found that whole passage strange and out of place. Don't get me wrong - I think it is awful that a random touch would be taken out of...

Re: Discussion of Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim

What was your overall impression of the book? Did you like it? ~Overall, I found it enjoyable. There were definitely some laugh-out-loud moments (the halloween candy and mouse-drowning stories come to mind). What was your favorite story? ~I don't know if I had ONE favorite, but I did really like the...

No, no . . . I'm not criticizing the fact that it was included in the book. Those things happen and are part of life. Rather, I'm just sad that it happened at all and that the characters went through such hard times that led them to those actions . . . . Cathy, I can't believe your teacher wrote &qu...

Even though Mr. Sedaris annoyed me at some points, I like his writing enough to look into reading other works of his. Good pick!

Sure :) Spoilers Ahead! Consider yourself warned . . . I'm not kidding . . . I'm really gonna reveal stuff, I swear . . . . Okay. The thing that disturbed me the most was what happened to Hassan in the alley. First off, that is the second book IN A ROW (:wtf) where that happens to a boy. But, what m...
