EW EW EW. I'd remove him as a friend. Or at least delete all his wall messages. Is he sending you private messages too? Ew. ETA: I just read your wall. He is slimy. And clearly he does not get that friends can have inside jokes (or ones that they share with TH friends). ETA more: He's not cute, Mari...

I *just* started We need to talk about Kevin by Lionel Shriver. I haven't read far enough to make any judgements.

I just finished A Place Called Here by Ceceila Ahern. Her stuff is light but not too fluffy.

I'm now reading The Booster by Jennifer Solow. I'm loving her style. It's modern and a bit edgy.

Yeah, I didn't read the synopsis before I got it from the library. Every month they list new books and I just go on a rampage checking them off to be put on hold. I think from now on I will cross reference with Chapters.

I'm reading Case Histories by Kate Atkinson. It's a crime novel, set in the UK, but it feels different from a normal crime novel; she really paints the characters well (I actually care about them) and it's not dry. So far the first two chapters have been about 2 entirely different sets of characters...

Mainly healthy ones, LB. I have these schemes of cooking actual recipes and then I just end up throwing meals together. I have The Healthy Family: Cooking for the Rushed by Sandi Richard on hold at the library for me right now; just waiting for it to come in. She has a show on Food Network Canada th...

I read more novels than anything else. I get irritated by short stories. I actually really enjoy reading cookbooks. I never make anything out of them but they're fun to read.

Spudd, it is all like that, and I was annoyed at first too. There's a reason I don't read short stories! But it all sort of gets tied up in the end, and in some of the vignettes you learn more about a previously mentioned character. It's all kind of intertwined. It's not my fave Maeve Binchy, but it...

I just finished Whitethorn Woods by Maeve Binchy. I'm so glad she returned to setting a book in Ireland, it seems more natural for her. I'm reading Size 12 is not fat by Meg Cabot, and although I'm only a couple of chapters in I am really annoyed by a mistake I caught. In the first few pages the mai...

I gave up on The Twins of Tribeca and started A Tale of Two Sisters by Anna Maxted. So far I've chuckled a couple of times already. It's british chicklit, but not TOO light.

Still listening to Mindless Eating. Still highly recommend it.

I just finished Which Brings me to You by Steve Almond (author of Candyfreak and Julianna Baggott. While I liked the premise (it's told through a series of letters between a man and woman) it just sort of left me cold. Right now I'm listening to Mindless Eating: Why we eat more than we think by Bria...

Ok, that's it. This is not your cheat meal. Tell Jeff he has to take you out for a cheat meal, as suggested by above wise women.

What's everyone else bringing?

Gone With The Wind (Margaret Mitchell) (started it about 3 times) 5. The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King (Tolkein) 6. The L...

I just finished Queen of the Big Time by Adriana Trigiani. I love her characters.

Now I'm on a completely different track with The Boyfriend from Hell by Avery Corman. He wrote Kramer vs. Kramer. It's good; I've never read any of his stuff before.

I just finished Milk Glass Moon by Adriana Trigiani. It's part of a series and I like her characters. Silvia, I picked up Leviathan when you first mentioned it, but I haven't read it yet. There's one more that's due at the library before that one-- One Mississippi by Mark Childress. I have no idea w...

Annie, have you ever tried maple syrup on cornbread muffins? REAL maple syrup, I mean? :drool

BTW, we call them cornmeal muffins here, for all the dialect junkies out there.
