It's November 1...

... somewhere in the world. :giggle I just finished "Lullabies for Little Criminals", a decent and slightly sad story of a girl growing up in the slums of Montreal. Now I need to pick something else. I'm holding two books in my hand, someone please vote: "contemporary wit" or &qu...

I'm reading Shopaholic Ties the Knot because it was on my shelf for 3 years, and I had never gotten to it.

I remember reading the first two and thinking they were mildly entertaining. But now, I'm just thinking this character is really just too stupid to function. :um

I think I mentioned this book before, but I'm finally reading it now: Without You: A Memoir of Love, Loss, and the Musical Rent is completely breaking my heart. It's about the guy who played Mark in "Rent" and how the skyrocketing success of the musical happens alongside the tragedies of J...

Sílvia wrote:Then I tried to read Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. I couldn't stand it (sorry, Crystal ;)). Way too pretentious for my taste. And boring. And the main character annoyed the crap out of me.

That's okay. I only thought "The Kite Runner" was so-so. ;)

True. I had to read a lot too but at least I got to read literature instead of dry legal tracts.

Although don't tell me 600 pages of Middle English isn't enough to turn a person off reading. "He wolde twee aboote ye ladye faere" Yeah, fuck you Chaucer! :lol

I maintain that it's not self-deprecating if it's true. :dunno I also have seriously given thought to the fact that spending too much time in books has reduced my social skills. Again, not self-deprecating. :dunno something about the constant excessive reading in law school beat some of that out of ...

I average about 4 books/month. I do read quite fast, but I also like to stop and mull and pontificate.
