Re: October

I finished Whalefall - it was different and worth reading. I've had Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo on my shelf for a while and figured fall is a good time to read. Some of it takes place at Yale so that will be interesting. I've started doing monthly (?) buddy reads with a former colleague/friend whic...

Re: October

I'm with you...can't believe it's October. I finished Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll which is a fiction telling of the victims of Ted Bundy. It was very well done. They never refer to him by name, just The Defendant. I started Whalefall by Daniel Kraus which is about a teen diver who ge...

Re: September

I started Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll. It's good - it's a Ted Bundy fiction book that focuses on the victims. I don't think she ever mentions him by name.

Re: September

I reached out to a friend to do a Stephen King buddy read for spooky season. LOL. She loved the idea - we planned for 2. The Dark Half for Sept and Revival for Oct. I just finished Dark Half last night and it was good - she has been having nightmares about it. We meet virtually (she's in NC) on Thur...

Re: September

I remember loving the Count in high school - I recently picked up a copy to do a re-read...know you make me hesitant. LOL

I'm reading The Many Lives of Mama Love - biography of a soccer mom addict. It's good -- different than I usually read.

Re: August!

I read an ARC of The Breakaway by Jennifer Weiner. It just came out so not exactly "early" but I'm trying to tackle some of these ARCs in my Kindle app. It was fine. 3 stars. I just pulled Mrs Plansky's Revenge by Spencer Quinn to start this am. I should have at least an hour before people...

Re: August!

I finished Prom Mom by Laura Lippman - I generally really like her standalones but the title really irked me on this one and probably should have trusted my gut. I needed to know what happened so finished it. I've got Cutting Teeth by Chandler Baker up next -- little vampire preschoolers--what could...

I've read a few:

Girls and Their Horses - Eliza Jane Brazier - just fun fluff
The Kind Worth Saving by Peter Swanson - not my favorite by him but ok

June!

How the heck is it June?

I've read a few good ones so far this month - both were 4 stars for me (although if you want to get technical Drowning was probably 3.75 stars).

The Half Moon by Mary Beth Keane
Drowning by TJ Newman

I started Yellowface by RF Kuang which is amazing so far.

Re: May!

I started This Bird Has Flown by Susanna Hoffs (lead singer of the Bangles) - it's a fiction book. It's weird because it's written well but I'm having trouble sinking into it. I may abandon it.

Re: April!

Glad you liked Lessons in Chemistry Blush! It was one of my favorites last year. Sylvia - I really liked The Soulmate. Hope you enjoy! I finished Pineapple Street this weekend. Very much a rich people behaving badly book which is fun when you're in the mood. Next up is Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolit...

Re: April!

What do you mean you could see him plotting? Sorry, it's hard to describe and it's one of the few books I felt this way about. I felt that the writing was very heavy handed and I could see where he was going way ahead of time (while at the same time he did surprise me in the end). I felt that it wa...

It's funny...I thought Defending Jacob was a great story but the writing wasn't all that (I could see him plotting). I really liked the Defending Jacob series which was on Apple. But I'm liking it and it's a book club pick so...

Re: April!

I really liked Lessons in Chemistry Blush. I'll be curious what you think. Sylvia, I liked the new JoJo Moyes but wasn't my favorite - there's a bit too much suspension in belief needed. I'm halfway through All That Is Mine I Carry With Me by William Landay. It's good although I was confused with th...

Oooh! Lots of vacation reading!!

I have heard awesome things about Anthropocene - I'll have to move it up on my list.

I started reading Finance for People Over 50 For Dummies. LOL I like the Dummies books - nice intro although I know much of what they're discussing at the moment.
