Re: It's September...what are you reading?
I finished The Innocents, which was way better than I thought when I started it. The mystery itself is kind of silly, and it DID go where I thought it was going, though not exactly the way I thought. What I liked about it was the character development. I thought that part was great, though if you're...

Re: It's September...what are you reading?
I gave up on the Kim Edwards. SO boring. I hate to abandon books, but when you're bored to death at page 90, that's not a good sign, is it? Then my cleaner misplaced it on Friday and I didn't find it until Saturday and didn't miss it one bit. Not a good sign either, uh? Now I'm reading The Innocents...

Re: It's September...what are you reading?
I don't know about Mellen, but Rowan reads like 3 books in an afternoon! Those books are fantasy, right? I picked one of them up at the store the other day and was bored before I finished the blurb. Soooo not my thing. I finished The Thirteenth Tale. It was a reread, I was reading it because someone...

Re: It's August - what are you reading?
House Rules by Jodi Picoult was ok, but the ending pissed me off. AGAIN WTF is wrong with that woman?
I think I've officially started re-reading Thirteen Tales, but I don't know if I'll continue.

Re: It's August - what are you reading?
Sil, by Katrina Kittle. Ah, ok. That seems intense! Mellen, I'm curious about The Expats too. I read the first few pages at the store the other day. It seemed interesting, but I got suspicious when she started going on and on about "the life we left behind", "the people we used to be...

Re: It's August - what are you reading?
Glad I'm not alone, Annie!
Rowan's M is older, but Mellen said she can do it with Jake, too. I was like I'm lucky enough to be online for 20 minutes when Leo's awake. The other day I was able to read for 15 minutes while he watched cartoons, but he was REALLY sleepy (therefore quiet).

Re: It's August - what are you reading?
I finally finished The Forgotten Garden. It took me more than a month :lol The first half was super slow and I was busy with the move (read: not focusing), then the second half was very gripping. Editors, people. Hire them. I read the last 15 pages with Leo awake. I don't know how you do this, Melle...

Re: It's August - what are you reading?
Blush, I actually liked the Post Birthday World but I skipped all the snooker talk. WTF? Like I care about snooker. Ditto. Though it wasn't as impressive as Kevin. I'm STILL reading The Forgotten Garden, which I started... what, 3 weeks ago? I haven't had much time/eneergy, what with the move and e...

Re: It's July...what are you reading?
I finished Under the Dome a few days ago. I liked it, but didn't love it. Pro: it was VERY gripping. I couldn't wait for a free minute to read a little more. Cons: like I said before, WAY too violent. Disturbingly so. I don't think that was necessary. I thought the ending was ridiculous. I expected ...

Re: It's July...what are you reading?
Get this: I went to my favorite bookstore today and they didn't have The Stand, which I'd seen there the other day, so I ordered it. It would take weeks to get here. But then I remembered Niko must be at the airport in San Francisco right then and texted him and asked him to check the bookstore ther...

Re: It's July...what are you reading?
I'm still reading Under the Dome. Mellen, I'm finding it pretty good and VERY gripping, but it's a liiiitle too violent for my taste. Sometimes I have to put it down for a break. Have you read The Stand? Amazon readers keep comparing them.

Re: It's June - what are you reading?
Yes, guys, that's the spirit. I've also stopped trying to finish books I don't like. If it hasn't grabbed me after 50 or 100 pages, goodbye. Mellen, I missed you'd read it. Good to know you liked it! I'm on page 180 or so, and I think there are too many characters, and I hope he'll stop introducing ...

Re: It's June - what are you reading?
I gave up on the Korean lady. Now I'm reading Under the Dome by Stephen King. Bad reviews say he recycles characters, but I haven't read many of his books, so I'm good. More things happened in the first 10 pages than in the first 100 in the Korean book! High brow readers would probably be horrified ...
