Oh... the things I could say! :nerd First, I also need to have *just* the right book, which is why I tend read several at once. I have a "travel" book for commuting, because I need to be able to start and stop it a lot. I have a "bedtime" book, because I don't want to have to thi...

I'm reading Diary now, because I'm such a good little book club member.

It's kind of trippy. I'd probably be enjoying it more, but I'm just all out of street drugs at the moment. ;)

Oh! You know what I hate? When people start a phrase with "I mean"

"Hey Jax, how was your weekend?"
"I mean... it was okay. We just hung out at home..."

Dude, you can't say that if you haven't given us something to refer it to! :angrywife

"Its" is used in cases of ownership. i.e. "The puppy was chasing its tail." "Marie's peanut is kicking its little butt off in her tummy." "It's" is a contraction of "it is." If you can't say "it is", then you don't need an apostrophe. (i.e....

Annie - "banal" is the perfect word. Saying "I'm tired" is like saying "the sky is blue." It's like it doesn't need mentioning.

Aly - I could go back and check. I just assumed she was talking about Jeff. ;)

Marie has called Jeff a "sweetie" 27 times
And Aly has said the word "monkey" 12 times

You know what people should stop saying? "I'm just so stressed..." I mean, I'm sure they ARE stressed, but so is... I don't know... EVERYONE? Like, hi, welcome to life. You're not unique or special for experiencing stress, and being "stressed" is not an excuse. Again, not trying ...

Okay well, I'll post a few thoughts. Here's why I love short stories. I love their endings. I love how you don't need to set up a back story, and explain every detail, and tie it all in a bow at the end. They can just END. They're literally just a "snippet" and there's something I find sat...

What are you reading now? (March 2006)

Good grief, people. It's March 16 and we didn't have a new topic!

I'm reading A Complicated Kindness by Miriam Toews. It won the Governor General's Award and I can see why. I love her writing style. I've read her other books too.

Mmm... satisfying. :smug

I have a friend whose MIL won't speak to her purely because she doesn't think my friend has wide enough hips for child-bearing. :dunno (That's to get to you back for your dirt comment in my apartment thread. :giggle )
