Re: It's September...what are you reading?

I'm still on "Tell The Wolves I'm Home". It is SO GOOD. Up there with Kevin, which you know is my benchmark for this year. Flipping into nerd mode here but I wanted to share a passage. Narrative as told from a 14 year old girl, struggling to understand why adults make certain choices, in l...

Re: It's September...what are you reading?

Still slogging through "The Double Bind". Oh my goodness...not sure what's going on. It's good but I guess it's just not that compelling. I only half care about all of the characters. Next up is "Tell the Wolves I'm Home". From the LIBRARY. You guys would be proud of me. (Though ...

Re: It's September...what are you reading?

I'm quitting both of my current books: Prophet's Prey and Nightwoods. The former is just a little to factual/dry for me when I'm tired (I read before bed). The latter is really clunky to read. Does not flow nicely and I keep getting bogged down trying to translate the awkward structures. I QUIT. So ...

Re: It's August - what are you reading?

I finished "The Sociopath Next Door" it was ok. Not much I didn't really already know. I wish they'd have used more case studies and less filler. I can see it being usefull for someone like my Aunt who believes everything someone tells her. I have a pretty good bullshit meter and I would ...

Re: It's August - what are you reading?

Okay, I finished "The Kindness of Strangers". I went to bed at 8:30 and read until 12:30 because I couldn't put it down. So good!

Re: It's August - what are you reading?

That's a bummer about the Lionel Shriver book, Blush. But good to know.

I know I already mentioned it but I'm reading "The Kindness of Strangers" and it's a page-turner!

Re: It's August - what are you reading?

You all read BOOKS while your KIDS are awake???? How on earth is that possible? I wouldn't be able to finish a freaking paragraph without being interrupted.

I finished "Plainsong". (Really good, people!) Now I'm reading "The Kindness of Strangers". So far, so good.

Aw, you guys are cute.

Can I just say how much I'm loving "Plainsong". Wow.... It might be passing "Kevin" for the year's top book. :lol

Re: It's August - what are you reading?

:lol I did like it, just not as much as I was hoping. Maybe too much build-up? People are talking about it everywhere!

As I was reading it though, I thought it seemed like a book that would do really well as a movie also. I'd put money on it!

Re: It's August - what are you reading?

I finished "Gone Girl". It was good. Not wonderful but okay. Sort of a fucked up book and a little too far off reality for my imagination to follow along with. Now I'm reading "Plainsong" by Kent Haruf. Only about 1/3 of the way in but wow. Beautiful, beautiful book. Blush, I'm a...

Re: It's July...what are you reading?

Bugsy, I read "A Stolen Life" a couple months ago. So sad...and yet she is an incredible spirit. I finished "Crooked Little Heart" by Anne Lamott last night. It was pretty good. Great writing and character development but a little too slow for me. I need more plot than that. I th...

Re: It's June - what are you reading?

I finished "The Almost Moon". Not recommended. Next up: The Liars Club by Mary Karr. I read another of her books a few months ago so this seems like a safe path.
