Re: June: what are you reading? And...

I finished The Heart's Invisible Furies last night. OMG, so good. I liked how most of the time it was just a normal narrative book but then there were bits that were laugh-out-loud funny from time to time. Cyril II was cracking me up! (don't call him that!)

Re: June: what are you reading? And...

I read more of it last night and I'm into it now. The one thing I don't like is all the Irish lingo. I don't know what a lot of it means.

Re: June: what are you reading? And...

I just finished The Wife by Alafair Burke. I spent like 10 minutes sitting here racking my brain for the title, thinking it was a Lionel Shriver book, and randomly googling character names and plot descriptions and coming up empty. I am so lazy I didn't want to walk the 10 feet to get my Kindle and ...

I started "Unbecoming" by Rebecca Scherm. So far I'm not super into it, but I'm hoping it will pick up.

Re: May, anyone?

I finished "This Will Hurt" last night. It's a chick-lit book about working in a corporate environment. It was okay. Wouldn't highly recommend.

I forget what I was reading before, but now I started The Woman at the Window by AJ Carr (I think?). I'm into it. It has kind of a Girl on the Train vibe but it's different enough.

Re: March - what are you reading?

I finished "The Heart Goes Last". I'd recommend it. It's kinda weird, but I liked it.

Now I'm reading "How Hard Could it Be?" by Alison Pearson. It's about a mom going through perimenopause. It's British. So far I'm enjoying it.

Re: March - what are you reading?

The weird semi-apocalyptic novel I'm reading is called "The Heart Goes Last" by Margaret Atwood. That's why it's weird, hehe. I am pretty into it now that it's gotten rolling.

Re: February! What are you reading?

So far it's medium weird. I'm barely started, less than 10% into it so far. I can't really tell if it will be good or bad at this point. But it's definitely weird.

Re: February! What are you reading?

What does "he doesn't plot" mean in a writing context? You mean he doesn't plan out the plot ahead of time? I finished Class Mom, it was OK. Now I'm reading a weird semi post-apocalyptic book I can't remember the name of. These people start off living in their car because there was an econ...

Re: February! What are you reading?

I just finished "Best Day Ever". It started off very promisingly but I felt like it went downhill towards the end.

Now I'm a good ways into "Class Mom", which I feel like you probably need to have kids to enjoy to its fullest. But it's cute and funny. I don't hate it.

Re: December! What are you reading?

I liked Water for Elephants, although I listened to the audiobook instead of reading it. Sometimes that helps so I never know if I'm being a fair judge or not. I've been reading the Jack Reacher books for the past long while (I got a compilation of the first 6 in a single ebook, so it's taking a whi...

Is she the pop culture columnist I hear on CBC Radio sometimes? If so, I like her. I didn't know she was also a writer.

Re: October! What are you reading?

I just finished "A Place of My Own" by Michael Pollan. Would not really recommend it. He spends way too much time waxing eloquent about architecture.

Then started "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" by Jonathan Safran Foer (sp?). So far so good!

Re: September: what are you reading?

I finished The Martian and loved it.

Now I'm reading "A Place of my Own" by Michael Pollan. It's a memoir about him building himself a little building on his property to use as a home office. So far it's decently interesting.

Re: September: what are you reading?

I finished the Chelsea Handler book last night, it was pretty good. Funny. Nice light read.

Then I started The Martian by Andy Weir. I wish I hadn't seen the movie, I think I would have loved the book even more. I'm only a little ways in but I'm loving it so far.

Re: September: what are you reading?

I finished a book on Yoga Therapy, which was OK, but not great. He basically said "everyone has the same muscle imbalances for the most part, so here are 2 different workouts, I won't bother to give more". I then started reading "My Horizontal Life" by Chelsea Handler. I don't kn...

Re: August! What are you reading?

I finished What If? a couple of days ago. It was really quite entertaining. And very bite-sized, so you can easily pick it up and put it down.

Now I'm reading "A Bone to Pick" by Mark Bittman, which is about food politics. I'm not enjoying it much so far, but maybe it will get better.
