Re: December!
This weekend I read: The Silence by Don DeLilio - this is the WORST book I've read in 10 years and maybe all of my life. It was completely pretentious and the dialogue was just ridiculous. If it wasn't just ~150 pages I would have never finished it. They All Fall Down by Rachel Howzell Hall - this w...

Re: November already
I abandoned We Ride Upon Sticks about 30 pages in. I just didn't care... I picked up another Joe Ide (Wrecked) - I've really liked his books that he's written. I started The Mothers by Brit Bennett. There's great ratings on this so I'm hoping it'll be good. I picked up a bunch of books on hold just ...

Re: November already
This weekend I read Friends and Strangers by J. Courtney Sullivan and really liked it. I just finished Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi which I also liked. Part of it takes place in a lab and I can't help but be a little eye rolley in parts but it was good. Not sure what's next on my pile. I think ...

Re: September: What are you reading?
I recently finished Jennifer Lancaster's latest Welcome to the United States of Anxiety. I didn't love it. It's definitely more serious than her memoirs but it just fell flat for me. I started Majesty by Katherine McGee which is the 2nd in the American Royals series. Total fluff but I loved the firs...

Poor Blush! All alone over here. :wine Recently I have read: The Heir Affair - sequel to The Royal We which I had read a million years ago so had to get that from the library, read it, then read the sequel Not Like the Movies - sequel to Waiting for Tom Hanks (Blush if you're still in the mood for r...

September: What are you reading?
I realize I've not been posting a lot here. I most recently finished The Lions of Fifth Avenue by Fiona Davis. I love her work - she takes a historical building in NYC and writes a story surrounding it with an older timeline and a recent timeline. This wasn't my favorite of hers...seemed rushed a bi...

Spudd, I'll be interested to hear what you think of Artemis. I loved the Martian but didn't hear good things about this one. I bought it at a used book sale but have pretty much ignored it. I'm reading Good Girls Lie by JT Ellison and I'm really liking it. It's taking me some time to get through. I ...

Re: July!
Wow! Halfway through the month and I haven't even checked in. Syl, I read In Five Years recently and liked it. I was also WTH at some points but in a good way. Darling Rose Gold was good - disturbing but good. I'm beta reading a book for an author right now. I think I mentioned in the other board - ...
Re: June!
I started The Wife Stalker by Liv Constantine as an ebook. I actually think it's not written very well but I'm curious about the story. Usually I would give up so I don't know what that means really. haha Today I get to do pick up my holds at the library! :wave There's a max of 20 books in your hold...
Re: June!
I finished Beach Read by Emily Henry yesterday. I really liked it - the reviews have been all over the place. I get to pick up my existing library holds tomorrow which I'm excited about. They stopped our ability to place holds while they were closed so I need to start putting things on hold again. T...
Re: June!
I liked Rodham and I am pretty apolitical. I thought it was well done and the alternate reality was interesting.
I don't have anything right now. I have a few on my kindle app that I should just grab one.

Re: June!
I read the latest Lori Lansens which I didn't love. Blush - what did you think? Her books are usually 5 star for me so I was sad. I'm reading End of October which is a new release/pandemic/eerily similar. I'm about halfway through and liking it. I have Rodham waiting for me - the fictionalized Hilar...
Re: May!
Blush - I generally like Barclay's novels curious as to what you thought. I finished Time After Time by Lisa Grunwald. Not sure what it is but I love historical fiction about NYC. I hate the city now - LOATHE it but I like old timey NY. I liked this - takes place in Grand Central Terminal. I'm flick...

If you liked Nightingale, have you tried The Great Alone by the same author. I really liked that as well!

Re: April books
I've had some pretty good luck with books lately. I just finished The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah which has been out forever. Not sure why I didn't pick it up before but it was amazing. It's a fairly big book but read it in 2 sittings. 5 stars from me!

Syl - a lot of people love Louise Penny but many say you have to get through the first 4 or so books. That seems like such a long way to go. I have the first one in my book fair books.

Re: Jan 2020, anyone?
I've been in such a book rut all of December!
First book in Jan was Red, White and Royal Blue. It was good although a bit more open door than I prefer my romances.
Not sure what's next...

I'm reading The Grace Year by Kim Liggett. Chatter has it as The Handmaids Tale meets The Hunger Games. I'm not into it enough to get a real feel for it.

I really liked The Whisper Network. Not sure what's next...I started Marilou is Everywhere and I don't think I'm going to continue. I can't put my finger on why - I think I don't like the writing. I have so many books I bought at various book fairs this summer that I should tackle. Anyone read The S...
