I finished A Column of Fire. It was OK but would not strongly recommend.
Now I'm reading "Educated" by Tara Westover. Really good so far. It's a memoir.

Re: October, boo!
I'm still reading the Pillars of the Earth sequel, whose name escapes me. A Column of Fire, maybe? Anyway, it's the 3rd one in the series, by Ken Follett, and it's about the Elizabethan era. It's fairly entertaining but it's not like amazing or anything. And it's really long.

I finished Artemis, by Andy Weir. It wasn't as good as The Martian but it was still good. Would recommend.
Then I started A Column of Fire by Ken Follett.

Re: August: what are you reading?
I finished Little Fires Everywhere and liked it a lot. Would recommend. Now I am reading Artemis, by Andy Weir. I only started it last night so I'm not far into it, but so far I love it SO MUCH. Also, on my phone during breaks at work, I am reading the first Bosch book, called The Black Echo, by Mic...
Re: July!
I finished Whole, by Colin Campbell. It sucked. I don't know why I finished it. The whole book was basically him whining about how the scientific community doesn't take him seriously.
Now I'm reading "Little Fires Everywhere" by Celeste Ng. It's really good so far.

Re: July!
I don't think I reported in that I finished All Clear, the final (?) book in the Connie Willis time traveling series. It was good! I liked it a lot.
Now I'm reading "Whole" which is a book about health and eating whole foods. (non-fiction)

Re: June!
I totally see where you're coming from, because when I hear "essays" my first thought are those stupid things you have to write in high school where you explain why the Roman Empire fell, or whatever. It's cool you have 2 words for the 2 different types in Portuguese. Sometimes English is ...
Re: June!
I think I would just call it essays. That was my initial instinct, and then I googled that book to see if I could find an article/review about it that actually applied a name to the writings, and I found this one: https://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/27/books/27masl.html which calls it essays. So I think...
Re: June!
What do you mean by chronicles?
Re: May!
Yeah, you definitely can. "To Say Nothing" is a departure.
Re: May!
Last night I finished Blackout by Connie Willis, next up is All Clear. It ended with a huge cliffhanger so I can't not continue with the series.
Thanks for the suggestion, Silvia!

Re: May!
I finished "To Say Nothing of the Dog" by Connie Willis, and enjoyed it. It was more comedic than the first one which I had mixed feelings about, but I still liked it.
I'm now continuing on the Connie Willis train and started "Blackout".

Re: April books
The one where the wife has the sister with Down's and things happen? LOL. I'm sure you remember.
And yeah, I enjoyed the Hunger Games a lot. It's an easy read, obviously, but entertaining.

Re: April books
I think you've already read most of the ones that are jumping to mind: That one I recommended recently and I know you read it right afterwards, The Pillars of the Earth, the Hunger Games, The Martian. The Road was a pretty good page-turner as well, have you read that? Also, Ready Player One. That's ...

There's a 15-week wait on The Nightingale from my library! It might be older but still popular. I put it on hold. I finished Doomsday Book last night and it was great, I loved it. I'm now trying to decide whether to read Little Fires Everywhere next or the 2nd book in the Oxford Time Travel series (...

Re: April books
I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm frustrated in the 2054 parts, but I think I'm supposed to be due to what's happening. I think I'm like 2/3 of the way through now.

Re: April books
I ended up not starting Little Fires Everywhere, because the Doomsday Book came in for me at the library (ebook) so I started reading that instead. So far it's good.

I finished The Road by Cormac McCarthy last night. It was good, but depressing.
Now I'm going to start Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. I have no idea what it's about or anything.

Re: March books!
I finished 'The New Me' by Halle Butler. I did not really like it. I felt like it didn't go anywhere. And sometimes, it had chapters from the POV of weird side characters as a one-time thing. Like, why? Before that, I read "The Last Time I Lied" by Riley Sager. I enjoyed that one more. Tha...

Re: March books!
Finished The Break by Marian Keyes. I ended up liking it quite a lot although I spent a lot of time gnashing my teeth at her decisions in the intermediate time. Now I'm reading a book about a women who had 3 friends disappear at summer camp when she was a kid and now she's going back to that camp. I...
