Re: February! What are you reading?
Finished Wool last night. I know I'm alone in this here, but I didn't like it. Fascinating concept, but after page 100 or so it felt like homework to me. Couldn't connect to any characters, skimmed through parts, was overall bored. Bah. Oddly, I am kind of curious about the second in the series bec...

Re: February! What are you reading?
The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware was OK. Some aspects of her writing annoyed me but it was a decent story. Tried to read Commonwealth by Ann Patchett and gave up after I reread a couple of chapters multiple times because it was so boring I couldn't retain all the info about the different character...

Re: February! What are you reading?
Finished The Most Dangerous Place on Earth this morning. Eh. It was ok. Don't think I realized it was YA. It was a quick read. I started The Woman in Cabin 10 at the Wheelmill tonight. It sounded intriguing but the librarian gave it a thumbs down when I checked it out. Only a few chapters in so far,...

Re: February! What are you reading?
Rowan, I have The Sleepwalker on my TBR list! Will be curious to hear if you like it.
I am about to start The Most Dangerous Place on Earth. I hope it's good as my last two reads have been major stinkers.

Finished The Couple Next Door. Meh. It started out well enough but then just got ridiculous.
Next up is either Class or Idaho.

Re: January! What are you reading?
I finally finished Victoria by Julia Baird. It was excellent but long (500+) pages and it could have done with some editing. I'm not sure why the author had to continually wax on about how obsessed she was with her husband, but that's my only complaint. I'm so excited to watch the PBS show on her no...

Finished The Princess Diarist. It was decent.
I just started on Victoria: The Queen by Julia Baird. I'm only a couple chapters in so far but I'm enjoying it.

Re: January! What are you reading?
I started The Princess Diarist by Carrie Fisher last night. I've never read any of her books - it's pretty good/funny so far.
I have a big stack from the library I need to get through before they are due back!

Re: December! Whatcha reading?
Troublemaker by Leah Remini - it was pretty good, interesting stuff about Scientology. Then read Beyond Belief by Jenna Miscavage Hill - she's the niece of David Miscavage who runs Scientology now. It was interesting but needed some editing. Then skimmed Talking as Fast as I Can by Lauren Graham. Wh...

Re: December! Whatcha reading?
Finished Children of the New World by Alexander Weinstein. I am not usually a short story collection fan but these were excellent. If you like future sci/fi, Westworld, Black Mirror, etc give this book a try.

Re: December! Whatcha reading?
Normal by Warren Ellis - eh. It was ok. Mischling by Affinity Konar - Excellent but also very sad. It's written from the point of view of twin girls that are in Auschwitz and experimented on by Josef Mengele. I just started Children of the New World by Alexander Weinstein. It is short stories, the s...

Re: December! Whatcha reading?
Finished a bunch of books sitting at the Wheelmill the past couple days.... The Oral History of the Daily Show - it was a fun read. There was a whole section dedicated to how the last show came together so it was fun to go back and watch it after I was done. The Gloaming by Melanie Finn - the whole ...

Re: December! Whatcha reading?
Rowan, I was so disappointed about the series because I so loved the first book.
I just started The Daily Show - An Oral History. Lots of interviews with Jon Stewart and all the corespondents detailing how the show came to be. It's pretty interesting so far.

Re: November?! What are you reading?
Sil, I loved The Passage. I could never get into the rest of his books in the series though. I loved Heartless. It's basically a take on the Wonderland from Alice and Wonderland and tells the tale of how the Red Queen became Queen and why she is so angry. It was just a good, fun read. I've been tryi...

Re: November?! What are you reading?
I started Heartless by Marissa Meyer (she wrote the Lunar Chronicles), it's a a take on Wonderland. I'm about 100 pages in and liking it. It's mindless and fun.

Re: November?! What are you reading?
I finished Lock In by John Scalzi. It was a sci/fi kind of book - I really liked it but it took me FOREVER to finish. I can never find time to read anymore.

Re: October! What are you reading?
I've been in a huge reading slump. Finally crawling out.... I'm just about done with Ghostland - An American History in Haunted Places by Colin Dickey. I have Replica by Lauren Oliver on the holdshelf that I'm excited to read. From B&N: Replica is a “flip book” that contains two narratives in on...

Re: August! What are you reading?
Finished Pretty Girls today. It was good but intense!
I think a mindless read is due after that one so Sarong Party Girls by Cheryl Lu-Lien Tan is probably up next.
