Re: It's June - what are you reading?
Ro, we have the movie for this weekend also! I actually sympathized with the mother and felt like the book identified a lot of feelings I've had about motherhood but hadn't put my finger on. The parent child relationship just unfolds a lot differently than you would intellectually expect. Namely tha...

Re: It's June - what are you reading?
May was a little slower for me. I finished The Year of Magical Thinking. Really well written and thoughtful but a little too "slow" for my liking. It's not really a book with a plot and I had a hard time accepting that. :lol Then I read We Need To Talk About Kevin. Oh my gosh, SO GOOD. One...

Re: It's May! What are you reading?
I can sum that book up for you in one sentence: It's hard to make friends as an adult. :lol Is it worth reading or is it total fluff? I tried to get into Dragon Tattoo (and this is so shallow of me) but I kept getting hung up on the names and not being able to pronounce them, which for me meant not...

Re: It's May! What are you reading?
Rowan, thanks for the heads up. Luke seemed to think I could just pick up with the 2nd one (he's read them both) but I was lost during the *movie* so I can only imagine how lost I'll be trying to jump into the books. Maybe I should just read that Joan Didion book. Get it over with. :lol Then I want ...

Re: It's May! What are you reading?
I finished the Jaycee Dugard book, "A Stolen Life", in one day of traveling. Easy read and obviously held my attention. I also finished "So Much Pretty" by Cara Hoffman. It was good. Written in that style where it changes character perspectives each chapter. I'm not a fan of that...

Re: It's April - what are you reading?
Hey all! I'm on a reading kick so thought I'd check in. My reading comes and goes depending on how busy I am. In the last couple months I've read: Pioneer Woman: Black Heels to Tractor Wheels - easy, fun read Lit: A Memoir by Mary Karr - excellent! A Stolen Life by Jaycee Dugard - interesting story ...

I'm reading this: http://www.amazon.com/Escape-Carolyn-Je ... 283&sr=8-1
"Escape" by Carolyn Jessop, a former polygamist wife. It's a page turner. Very fascinating.

There is no such thing as too much cheese. Except on pizza and I only say that because pizza cheese gives me major GI issues. Annnnyway, your menu is fine. You could add a vegetable-maybe a salad with a tart/sweet flavor, to balance all the rich, savory dishes you have. I had a hard time with my men...
