Re: September!
I haven't read a single positive review of One Italian Summer from my goodreads contacts, so I think I'll pass. I put The House at the Edge of Night on my list, Blush. It sounds up my alley. I read The Love of My Life by Rosie Walsh this past week. Really liked it. The blurb makes it sound like a my...

Re: September!
Oops, sorry, I should have started September the last time I posted. Spudd, sorry you didn't love Then She Was Gone. I thought it was so good. I mean, somewhat predictable, but still good. Also, please let me know what you think of A Canticle for Leibowitz. I've been curious about it, but I wonder i...
Re: August!
Yeah, let's hope the third one picks up! It has to at some point or she wouldn't have written 257 sequels, right?
Re: August!
I finished a book! :yay A short one, but still. Stephen King's Elevation. It was ok. Readable, but I was utterly unimpressed. If it's magical realism he was going for, Latin Americans do it much better. I'm also half-assedly rereading Outlander (the first in the series) because I'd like to watch the...
Re: August!
I gave up on Wish You Were Here, then went online to find a plot summary with spoilers. OMG, I'm so glad I gave it up. I tried Never Let Me Go eons ago, but gave it up, Spudd. Loved the concept, found it super boring. I get bored easily, it seems. Then I started like 3 or 4 books, nothing's grabbing...
Re: August!
I'm at 25% of Wish You Were Here by Jodi Picoult, but I'm finding it slow. Not sure I'll continue. Anyone read it? The main character goes to a remote island in Ecuador in the first days of the pandemic while her boyfriend, a doctor, stays in New York working. So you can imagine how the beginning is...
Re: August!
Finished the new Kristan Higgins, Out of the Clear Blue Sky. Loved it.
Re: August!
Finished Broken Promise. Entertaining enough, but I was irritated that a lot of mysteries are not solved by the end of the book. Apparently you have to read the rest of the series for that. It's like a Netflix show.
I think I'm in the mood for the new Kristan Higgins.

Re: August!
I finished Never look Away by Linwood Barclay. Ended up liking it almost as much as the previous 2. Now I'm reading Broken Promise by him, which is the first in a trilogy, but the series should have started with Never look Away, because it has the same main character. I don't understand why it's not...
Re: July!
Thoroughly enjoyed No Time For Goodbye! Then I started its sequel, but it wasn't really holding my attention, so I started Never Look Away, also by him. It's entertaining enough, but so far less gripping than the other 2 I read. It doesn't help that I read a spoiler for it when I was reading the syn...
Re: July!
Finished the Linwood Barclay! It was partly predictable and had other flaws, but I still enjoyed it so much! Already downloaded another sample (No Time for Goodbye). Rowan, you're demanding! I give 5 stars to at least a couple of books a year. This year I've already given it to Sea of Tranquility (a...
Re: July!
Next: In Five Years by Rebecca Serle. I think Silvia read it? I did! I liked it overall, but there were some things I didn't. I posted my comments on goodreads, if you're curious. But I do remember it was very gripping! Speaking of gripping, I'm reading my first Linwood Barclay and it's such a page...
Re: July!
I finished The Truth About the Harry Quebert affair, which had a decent story in the end, despite the stupid dialog. Then I read about half of The Lies that Bind by Emily Giffin before I decided it was really terrible. Then I read a super hyped Brazilian book that hasn't been translated into English...
Re: June!
Sorry your latest readings haven't been great, Blush. I finished Lessons in Chemistry, kind of loved it! The only thing I didn't like was that there's a 5-year-old who'd need to be at least 8 or 10 years older to do the things that she does. Gifted or not gifted, it's just not realistic. But that wa...
Re: June!
At least you read a different book! My mom reads the same book twice and swears she'd never read it before She's old now, but she's been doing that for decades.
Yes, I like that cover better too, but it's so happy!

Re: June!
Rowan, the cover of the Brazilian edition is even more rom-com-y. They went with this one: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/58607657-lessons-in-chemistry I'm also a little annoyed that this woman I follow on instagram said it's "good, but so, SO light!" Wtf?? Also, the premise of The Ar...
Re: June!
I read 270 pages of Duma Key and gave it up. It started out well, but fizzled out. SO SLOW. I decided I didn't want to read another 500 pages of that to see how it ended. This book is a perfect example of the fact that no one edits Stephen King anymore. Then I started Lessons in Chemistry and am lov...
Re: June!
Finished Misery. Loved it. Well, as much as you can love something out of Mr King's twisted mind. There were parts I wish I could unread, but overall it's a great story. And it's fast-paced, unlike some others of his. I seem to be on a King kick. I started Duma Key and wanna give IT another try. I t...
Re: June!
I'd heard about Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow, it does sound good! Glad you enjoyed Apples Never Fall, Blush. I love Liane, but that's gotta be my least favorite of all her books. I found it SO slow. I finished Close to Home by Cara Hunter. It was entertaining enough. I'll probably read the sec...
Re: May!
Did you figure it out? I'm impressed!
