I finished my mystery novel the other night, and started on "Anne of Ingleside" by L.M. Montgomery.

It is killing me that Anne named her son "Shirley".

Still working on Dancing with the Virgins by Stephen Booth (it's much less titillating than it sounds! ;)).

I recommend Beautiful Boy by David Sheff if anyone is looking for a book to read. It was really good (and quite sad).

I'm almost done with Friday Night Lights. Good book but totally horrifying.

Today I picked up Tweak by Nic Sheff and sTORItelling by Tori Spelling. I couldn't decided between serious and light.

Mellen, I just put Beautiful Boy on my list at the library.

I'm reading Pandora's Daughter by Iris Johansen. A bit different than her usual - this has a touch of psychic stuff going on. Its good.

I tried to read The Wednesday Letters by Jason F. Wright but it was gag inducing, like a Thomas Kinkade painting in words. (Apologies to any Thomas Kinkade fans. Not my thing).

But now I've just started Mermaids in the Basement by Michael Lee West and it's pretty good! So far the protagonist feels like a real person and thinks and talks like one, too.

Pandora's Daughter was just meh.

I whipped through Certain Girls by Jennifer Weiner. Pretty good - easy read. Its a sequel to Good in Bed.

Not sure what's next on the "pile".

I finished "Anne of Ingleside" last night, and I haven't chosen my next book yet. Anne made me cry, yet again. That bitch!

I can't read, what's wrong with me? I can't concentrate on anything. :crying

Although Spudd gave me an idea. Anne books make everything better...

Okay, so my Anne books are all buried in my basement storage. (how appalling!) So I picked up "Vanity Fair" by Thackeray - I do loves me some Victorian novels. Hopefully this will cure my reading slump...

I just finished Critical. It wasn't one of Robin Cook's best that's for sure. It seemed to be written hastily.

I finally got Beautiful Boy from the library but I don't know if I"m in the mood for a sad book. We'll see.

I finally finished "Tess of the D'Urbervilles" by Thomas Hardy. Yup, that was depressing.

Also, I finished "Drunk, Divorced, and Covered in Cat Hair" by Laurie Perry. She's a blogger I read, so I bought her book cause I figured it would be a fun read. It was.

Now started on "The Wind in the Willows" by Kenneth Graeme (sp?) and "Light a Penny Candle" by Maeve Binchy. So far so good on both.

I've read so many good books since I've posted here last. Here are some off the top of my head:

The Last Lecture.
Happiness NOW!
Belong to Me.
Embrace Me.
The Russian Concubine.
A New Earth.

I'll try to remember more of them and post again. I need another good new one. Ideas?
Happiness is an inside job.

In the past week I read Predator by Patricia Cornwell and Celestial Navigation by Anne Tyler. Both were good, but the Anne Tyler book was unbearably sad, I thought. Most of her books have plenty of sadness, but happier endings, so I wasn't really expecting that.

Now I'm on to The Full Cupboard of Life by Alexander McCall Smith and Tipping the Velvet by Sarah Waters.

Oh, Ruthie! I've got a suggestion for you -- try Affinity by Sarah Waters. Very, very good.
