March!

Post by Rowan »

I started The Violence this weekend and loving it. Pandemic-y but a really fast read. It discussed covid but this is the 2nd pandemic after covid.

I have a huge stack after that.

I'm reading "Into Thin Air" by Jon Krakauer, non-fiction about climbing Everest.

The Violence sounds interesting.

Into Thin Air is fantastic! You should read Miracle in the Andes if you enjoy Thin Air. It's about that rugby team that ended up eating human remains to survive 😬 But it's awesome, I promise!

Still rereading Station Eleven. It's the kind of book I like to savor, it's so good.

Finished Station Eleven last night. Still so good! The HBO series is utter crap. I mean, you might enjoy it if you haven't read the book, but I don't see how anyone who loved the book could enjoy *that*. Ugh.

Blush, glad you loved Malibu Rising!

I finished Seven Days in June by Tia Williams. I loved it.

Next is The Family by Naomi Krupitsky. It's about the friendship between two girls who are the daughters of mafia. Starts in the 1920s.

I started The Cage by Bonnie Kistler last night. I like it. 2 women are trapped in an elevator. One is shot. Who did it?

I think Miracle in the Andes was also a movie.

The first movie that S and I went to when were dating. Super romantic!!

I think the movie you're thinking of is Alive, from 1993, which is based on the same story. The book Miracle in the Andes is from 2006 and was written by one of the survivors.

I'm almost done The Cage. There wasn't a ton of time for reading this weekend with hockey and I think I have 40 pages left.

Finished Heads You Win by Jeffrey Archer. His writing is kinda cheesy, but there's a lot of action. I could have done without all the British politics talk, though. Plus he tried to do a Sliding Doors thing and botched the ending. But overall it was enjoyable. 3 stars.

I'm about 25% into The Last by Hanna Jameson. It's about a group of people who survive a nuclear war because they're in an isolated hotel near a forest in Switzerland. I know, my timing is excellent. I'm loving it.

Glad you enjoyed Into Thin Air, Spudd!

I finished The Last. Loved it. Now I'm 65% into The Silent Patient and unimpressed, though I don't hate it.

The Silent Patient had a decent resolution, it didn't make me roll my eyes. 3 stars.

Now I'm reading Fat Chance by Crystal... Maldonado? It's about a fat teen and her love life and dramas. Where were all these books about fat teens when I was one? Oh yeah, the authors hadn't been born yet.

I finished Did You Miss Me; it was cute.

Now I have a suspense novel: Just Like Other Girls by Claire Douglas.

Update: I finished Just Like Other Girls in a day. It was quick but just OK.

Now I have The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah. It's a 2 week loan but I will have to return it next Friday. I think it will go quickly.

Finished Fat Chance. It was ok. I'm too old for it.

Blush, I started The Four Winds too! :high five I'd been avoiding it because everyone keeps saying it's beyond depressing and I wasn't in the mood, but now it's been released here and I thought "eh, why not, at least it's in Portuguese" and I'm enjoying it! Have you finished it yet?

OK I finished The Four Winds. Excellent but definitely not uplifting.

Then I started Where The Grass is Green and The Girls Are Pretty by Lauren Weisberger.
