Rowan, I'm about half way through now and couldn't believe how much I had forgotten about Cinder! It's quite good now so I'm glad I stuck through the first part where I was a little confused.

mellen, glad you powered through Scarlet.

Finished May We Be Forgiven. I really liked it but must admit that it's not a book for everyone. The characters and story are really unrealistic and out there. I couldn't put it down.

I grabbed another book this morning for hockey tonight. The Uninvited? No idea what it's about....

I finished Scarlet, it was quite good. Rowan, do I remember you posting at one point what the name/character of the next book was going to be?

I'm currently about 3/4 of the way through Voices from Chernobyl - The Oral History of a uclear Disaster. It's really sad.

I think I saw Me before You is "in transit" to the hold shelf at the library so that'll probably be up next.

mellen: Book 3 is Cress (Rapunzel) and Book 4 is Winter (Snow White). Glad you liked it!

I'm liking The Uninvited. Nothing major has happened yet but I'm still waiting....

Thumbs up on The Uninvited. Ending was a bit odd but I enjoyed reading it.

Rowan, I have The Interestings on my hold list! Will be interested to hear what you think.

I finished Voices from Chernobyl - The Oral History of a Nuclear Disaster. It was extremely sad.

I just started The Time Traveler's Guide to Medieval England - A Handbook for Visitors to the 14th Century. I found it while wandering through the library. Good so far.

I finished "May We Be Forgiven" and enjoyed it, although it was kinda weird and not at all believable.

Now I've started "The Night Circus". It's also weird, so far, but I'm liking it.

I finished the book by María Dueñas. She writes well, but this one failed to hook me. There was nothing terribly compelling (sp?) in the plot.

Now I started Stephen King´s The Stand. I asked Niko to buy it in the US in July of last year, but for some reason haven´t read yet. Since I´ve been in a book rut that never seems to end, I decided to give it a try. I haven´t read many of his books, but he never fails to entertain me.

I went through a period in my teens and 20's where I would re-read The Stand in June (when it starts). I always loved this book. Don't watch the miniseries.... :thumbdown

I started The Interestings. So far so good.

I hope you like Vampires, Rowan. I really really enjoyed it.

I finished up The Time Traveler's Guide to Medieval England - A Handbook for Visitors to the 14th Century, it was pretty good. Lots of little tidbits about clothing, illness, etc.

I just picked up Her - a memoir about the writers identical twin sister that dies. It's supposed to be pretty good.

I finished Her: A Memoir. I liked it but the beginning read like fiction, a little too over the top.

Next up is George, Nicholas and Wilhem: 3 Royal Cousins and The Road to WW 1.

I'm still in the midst of "The Night Circus" and it's okay but I don't love it.

Over the weekend I also read 2 non-fictions:
- Do What You Are - uses Myers-Briggs personality types to tell you what kind of job you would like
- The Little Book of Common Sense Investing

Both were very good.

I just finished "A Thousand Lives". It was about Jonestown. It was EXCELLENT. Really fascinating read. My only complaint was that there were a lot of names to keep track of and the name "Jim" was very common and the author wasn't great about differentiating between them.

Before that I read "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks". Overall I really liked it, though some of the biology stuff lost me. I wish there had been some scientific diagrams or something. Or maybe that would've turned people off. :lol

Annie, I actually worked with HeLa cells in my undergrad/grad work (most cell biologists have touched them in their career). I was really excited to read the book when it came out a few years ago. I have to say I was really disappointed in the way she treated/referred to Henrietta's family. She did a lot of great research but could have used a bit more tact/empathy when talking about the family. Glad you liked it....

I'm still on Reconstructing Amelia. I discovered Word Mole on my bb this weekend and that is eating up my time.....

I really liked the Henrietta Lacks book (listened to the audiobook last year). I cried my eyes out at the end of it. It is just such a sad story.
