December: what are you reading?

I'm reading The Grace Year by Kim Liggett. Chatter has it as The Handmaids Tale meets The Hunger Games. I'm not into it enough to get a real feel for it.
Re: December: what are you reading?
Finished A Time to Kill. Loved it. There was a lot of backstory on several characters, but I enjoyed all of it. I also watched the movie over the weekend and I don't think I'd seen it before
Now I'm reading what they call its sequel, Sycamore Row. It's not really a sequel, it's just set in the same town, with the same lawyer.

Finished Sycamore Row. Loved it too! I'd forgotten how engrossing John Grisham can be.
Today I'm going to have a look at the sample of Where the Crawdads Sing. I think the blurb sounds super boring, but I'm tired of seeing this book pop up in my goodreads feed with EVERYONE saying it's the best book of the decade. I wanna find out for myself.

I finished Three Bags Full and would recommend it. It was very cute.
Now I'm reading Arkwright. My brother recommended it to me. We'll see. It's a sci-fi.

Re: December: what are you reading?
I returned Where the Crawdads Sing at the 45% mark. Found it painfully boring. At first I intended to finish it even though I wasn't enjoying it because everyone said the second half is completely different, but I decided life's too short and I could just read spoilers on goodreads if I wanted to know how it would end. Ugh. Never mind me, though, it has a 4.5 average rating on goodreads.
Not sure what's next.

Re: December: what are you reading?
I received my copy of the new Isabel Allende yesterday so I started it. I hate the fact that her books don't have an electronic version in Portuguese, so I have to buy them in paper. The print is so tiny! Ah, it's called A Long Petal of the Sea.
Re: December: what are you reading?
Blush, you haven't been lucky with your resort books, uh?
Finished A Long Petal of the Sea. Loved it. Almost as much as The House of the Spirits, her first and still my favorite.
Not sure what's next. I'm in the mood for something very light and chick-lit-y.

Re: December: what are you reading?
I thought Everything I Never Told You was well-written but slow. Let us know.
I'm reading The House of New Beginnings by Lucy Diamond. It's a very easy, predictable, relaxing read, but I'm more absorbed in the character's lives than I thought I'd be.

Re: December: what are you reading?
The House of New Beginnings ended up way too sugary and predictable.
Now I have A Summer Affair by Elin Hilderbrand. I hope it fits my criteria of "light, but not stupid". I've read 6 of her books, loved 3, didn't love 3.
