Sneaky McSneakerson

Post by aly »

:mrburns

(Yeah I know the Blah McBlaherson stuff is overused too :giggle)

I've suspended MIL's cell phone line because she went over by 44 minutes already this month. :holyshit Her new minutes start tomorrow, but I think I might keep it turned off till the weekend. :smug She just pisses me off so much. :complain This past weekend I found out she had gone over so I called and they felt sorry for us and gave her 100 free goodwill minutes. Well, she tore through those and has only 11 minutes left and I'm scared she'll use them up today while we're at work. She's an idiot. She doesn't understand overages and minutes and how everything works. Bo tells her that she has no minutes left but she keeps on using the phone. I also found out this past weekend that last month she went over by $30, and who knows how much she would've went over had I not caught it this month. And the thing is she says she'll pay for overages but she KNOWS full well he won't take money from her. :huffy So I called Cingular and asked if they have some way of suspending a line in case you have a belligerent child that won't stop using their cell phone. :giggle Lucky for me they do have such an option. :whew

Counting down the days till she leaves.... :clap :smug :yay

You are my hero of the day.

This is SO going to piss her off but jeesh! If you've talked to her about it and she continues doing it she doesn't leave you much choice.

I can't wait to hear how this one plays out.

Does Mr Bo know?

Who IS she calling? Friends back in the Ukraine? Dang!

And yeah, does Bo know? What are you planning to do when she goes nuts and realizes what happened? :giggle

My first reaction seems to be a popular one: Who is she calling? I can't wait to find out how your plan works out. :giggle

I find it hilarious that you compare her to a child who can't stop using the phone. :lol

I just have this hilarious mental image of her at home, trying to use the cell phone, not being able to, and just trying over and over again until she gets super mad, turns red and smoke comes out of her ears.

She's calling Bo's dad. Her phone usage for one day looks like this:

03/20 01:57 PM INCOMING 555-620-5555 DT 22
03/20 01:19 PM LONGBRANCH 732-962-5555 DT 2
03/20 01:13 PM LONGBRANCH 732-962-5555 DT 1
03/20 01:01 PM LONGBRANCH 732-962-5555 DT 2
03/20 12:57 PM LONGBRANCH 732-962-5555 DT 1
03/20 12:39 PM LONGBRANCH 732-962-5555 DT 1
03/20 12:33 PM LONGBRANCH 732-962-5555 DT 1
03/20 12:32 PM LONGBRANCH 732-962-5555 DT 1
03/20 12:21 PM LONGBRANCH 732-962-5555 DT 1
03/20 12:21 PM LONGBRANCH 732-962-5555 DT 1
03/20 12:11 PM LONGBRANCH 732-962-5555 DT 1
03/20 12:10 PM LONGBRANCH 732-962-5555 DT 1
03/20 11:57 AM LONGBRANCH 732-962-5555 DT 1

The Longbranch number is her calling card. Every day she'll have like 15 1-minute calls and then finally the Incoming Call is Bo's dad calling her back, and usually that call is 20-40 minutes long. Multiple this times every day and you have her normal cell phone usage. She has 450 minutes a month and unlimited nights and weekends which I think is more than enough for her. Plus we buy her calling cards so she can call internationally.

And Jax, I actually said the "if you have a child" stuff and the lady laughed. She then laughed more when I said it wasn't a child but my pesky mother-in-law.

Yes, Bo knows. He's like, "I guess we'll have to turn it on tomorrow... :mope" but I was like, "Do we have to? So soon? :giggle" I told him if she gets pissed we can just play it off like the phone's not working because she maxed out her minutes and it won't work until her new billing cycle.

We have a land line however we only have it for our DSL (Internet). We only use it because Bo has an email address through Fuse that he's become pretty dependent on otherwise we'd switch to cable. We keep the land line hooked up to an answering machine as well, but it charges you to dial out. Another issue is that there is only 1 working phone jack in the house. When we moved in none of the phone jacks work so only one jack works and that's in the basement in the computer room. We didn't have the equipment and time to mess with the phone jacks throughout the house and didn't feel like rewiring everything. (I don't know if you recall but we bought our house as a foreclosure and had to do a lot of fix up work.) And obviously we thought that she could use the phone in the computer room, but if she's taking care of Julian, most of the time she's upstairs, not in the basement where there's really no comfortable place to be with him and it's cold with no carpeting. :dunno It would've been nice to do the land line thing and I'm sure we could've avoided the issues we're having now, but we didn't. I think if our wiring situation would've been different (like in our old apartment where everything worked :lol) we could've easily had the land line for her and she could then use the calling card. We were also slightly afraid that she'd run out of time on her calling card and call directly international from a land line, and that would've involved us setting up some kind of international plan as well. :whew Frankly, we discussed every option we could think of and finally after about 2 weeks of discussion we agreed that the cell phone met our needs the best for the short time she was to be here. LOL. You probably didn't want that much detail, but oh well.
