Re: You show me yours I
I haven't updated my booklist in forever, so it's looking pretty shameful. But I'm in the "What are you Reading?" forum every day.
http://www.librarything.com/catalog/studio1
I'm going to pretend "84, Charing Cross Road" was my influence, and I hope you're going to read "Great Gatsby" and "Lolita" in English! (not like English is the only way to read, but Nabokov's use of language is just so playful and engaging)
Going to add some books to my list now!

You got into this business because you're funny and weird, and you're socially retarded. And because it pays well. - Jack Donaghy, 30 Rock.

84 was because I loved the movie. Found the book kinda boringI'm going to pretend "84, Charing Cross Road" was my influence, and I hope you're going to read "Great Gatsby" and "Lolita" in English! I read Lolita in Portuguese because it was borrowed. And The Great Gatsby came with a newspaper. It bored me to tears. I did like Lolita, though!
Off to read your lists! *rubs hands in bookish excitement*

Here's me:

I need to get in and update a little -- I'm in a very non-reading way at the moment, unfortunately.
Oh, and about Lolita -- isn't the language fantastic? And to think that he wasn't even a native speaker ...

Beverly, so you loved The Blind Assassin, uh? One of the books I teach has its first chapter and it looks pretty interesting.

*sigh* I am just going to stop trying to understand you.SÃlvia wrote: 84 was because I loved the movie. Found the book kinda boring
I'm not even going to tell you how I felt about "The Blind Assassin", so as not to skew you in the opposite direction.

I know it took you months to finish The Blind Assassin, so that's probably a good sign for me
84 was just a bunch of commercial letters

It didn't take me very long to finish Blind Assassin? Unless it was because I was busy or reading other books, but not in a slogging kind of way.
And 84 was so cute! She had this great sense of humour (I love when he sent the Bible, and she was like "What kind of black Protestant witchery is this??? ), and he was all staid and proper while she kept trying to rile him.
*hangs head sadly*

Re: You show me yours I'll show you mine.
It was me who took forever to read The Blind Assassin. Like Crystal said, though, it wasn't in a "slogging through it" kind of way, it was because I was busy (Petra was a baby, we were doing a lot of Mosaic Minds work, etc.). I loved it very, very much, though. Seriously, maybe one of the best books I've ever read -- it pained me every time I had to put it down.
Re: You show me yours I'll show you mine.
Ok, I'll order it! I'm curious now. And you're the only one who has RATED her books. Thank you!

Well, there's no point in me rating them, you'll just think the opposite. (I'm joking, this is our thing...)

See? It would help!
But seriously, why do they ask you to rate the books if then they suggest books based on things you DIDN'T like? You know, those automatic recommendations. It should be able to read ratings and THEN suggest something. I hated The Book Thief and I got tons of recommendations based on the fact that I read that book! Thanks, now I know what NOT to read.

I didn't know about this site!
I added the books I've read in 2009. (I'm at 34 as of today.)

Re: You show me yours I'll show you mine.
I basically switched over to GoodReads when Librarything told me I couldn't add any more books without paying.
Re: You show me yours I'll show you mine.
Really?? What's the limit?
Re: You show me yours I'll show you mine.
The limit is 200 I think. But it's only $25 for a lifetime membership. Goodreads is OK but it's too much effort for me to do both so I mostly just stick with LT.

Oh. Well, my little black notebook is free.
