September: what are you reading?
I finished The Heart Goes Last. It was really good.
Next is Things you Won't Say by Sarah Pekkanen.

I finished a book on Yoga Therapy, which was OK, but not great. He basically said "everyone has the same muscle imbalances for the most part, so here are 2 different workouts, I won't bother to give more".
I then started reading "My Horizontal Life" by Chelsea Handler. I don't know why, I don't even know who she is. But I got it from the library at some point and it seemed like an easy read. So far it's reasonably entertaining.

Re: September: what are you reading?
I finished the Sarah Pekkanen book and it was just meh. The subplots were annoying.
Now I have a thriller called Long Time Lost by Chris Ewan.

I read The Perfect Couple By Elin Hilderbrand. It was so much fun! I'd always been put off by her book covers, all similar, all beach-y. But this had a murder in it, so I was drawn. I was hooked from the very beginning.
Then I read The Broken Girls by Simone St James (sp?), which had been on my list for several months. It was slightly disappointing, but still enjoyable.
Now I'm reading The Final Six by Alexandra Monir, which is sci-fi YA, very much not my thing, but readable, plus I bought it on impulse after reading 2 pages at the bookstore, and it's short, so I'm finishing it. It's not bad, it's just that I was expecting something more post-apocalyptic, and it's not exactly that.
I'm also reading a Brazilian one about the Portuguese royal family.

Finished The Final Six. It was meh. It was not bad, but it was very childish.
I'm not feeling the Brazilian one, either. Not in the mood for history. I don't know if I'll keep it and read it slowly or just return it.

Re: September: what are you reading?
I finished the Chelsea Handler book last night, it was pretty good. Funny. Nice light read.
Then I started The Martian by Andy Weir. I wish I hadn't seen the movie, I think I would have loved the book even more. I'm only a little ways in but I'm loving it so far.

Re: September: what are you reading?
Spudd -- I thought they did a surprisingly good job on the movie but yeah...the book is better. The science is right on too.
I'm reading the new Mary Kubica which is good but there's an insomnia part to it and I can't imagine not trying to sleep or going to a dr or something. I'm only 50 pages in so I'll continue. I generally love her stuff.

I started The Other Wife by Michael Robotham. So far it's very gripping. This is #9 in a mystery series with a much-loved psychologist as a main character.
Decided to keep reading the history book.

I finished Long Time Lost. It was ok. It didn't draw me in as well as I'd hoped.
Next is Surprise Me by Sophie Kinsella.

Finished The Other Wife. Loved it. It's one of those mystery series that feature the same 2 characters in all books, but instead of 2 cops, one of the main characters is a psychologist. THE main character, actually. It made for much more interesting reading, IMO. Plus I didn't have to endure all the cop lingo in English, which can be a bit of a struggle. I think I'm going back to the first one in the series.

I read Smothered by Autumn Chiklis this weekend (daughter of the main character of The Shield). It had great buzz but I didn't like it. I've had a few 2 star books lately which is a bummer.
I have a few library books left in my pile so not sure what will be next.

Re: September: what are you reading?
I read Vox by Christina Dalcher which is a dystopian novel in which females can only speak 100 words a day. I liked the beginning half but then they started talking science and it wasn't sound science so it sorta turned me off.
Not sure what's next....

I finished A Separation. It was blah.
Next is One Brother Shy by Terry Falls.

I finished The Martian and loved it.
Now I'm reading "A Place of my Own" by Michael Pollan. It's a memoir about him building himself a little building on his property to use as a home office. So far it's decently interesting.
