I'll play:

By far the best book of the year: The Heart's Invisible Furies by John Boyne

4 or 5 stars:

The Family Next Door by Sally Hepworth
The Mother's Promise by Sally Hepworth
Then She was Gone by Lisa Jewell
The Secrets she Keeps by Michael Robotham
The War I Finally Won by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley (and its prequel, The War that Saved my Life, which I read in 2017. They're middle grade, but I loved them).
The Break by Marian Keyes
The Things That Keep Us Here by Carla Buckley
Almost Perfect by Dianne Blacklock
The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand
The Other Wife by Michael Robotham
The Suspect by Michael Robotham
Evidence of the Affair by Taylor Jenkins Reid
All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin

And a couple of Brazilians that will never be translated into English.

Spudd - I definitely suggest watching You anyway. I tend not to remember books so that might help me but the whole family is enjoying the series.

The Tsar of Love and Techno, by Anthony Marra
We Should All be Feminists, by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
*Kindred, by Octavia E. Butler

I am Malala, by Malala Yousafzai
Necessary Lies, by Diane Chamberlain
*Born a Crime, by Trevor Noah
The Importance of Being Earnest, by Oscar Wilde
El Deafo, by Cece Bell
*Salvage the Bones, by Jesmyn Ward
*Far From the Tree: Parents, Children, and the Search for Identity," by Andrew Solomon (even for a non-parent, this was absolutely fascinating)
A People's History of the United States, by Howard Zinn
The American Nurse, by Carolyn Jones
*The Politics of Resentment: Rural Consciousness in Wisconsin and the Rise of Scott Walker," by Katherine J. Cramer
*There There, by Tommy Orange
*We Were Eight Years in Power: An American Tragedy," by Ta-Nehisi Coates
