Someone Knows - Lisa Scottoline (2.5 star)
Chalk Man - CJ Tudor (3 star)

I finished Where The Grass is Green and The Girls Are Pretty by Lauren Weisberger. It was pretty good.

Then I read The End of Her by Shari Lapena. It was compelling but the ending was unsatisfactory, and (this is a nitpick) I am always annoyed by the names of the characters in her books. They always seem so stiffly "made up". Anyone else?

Now I have Happiness for Beginners by Carole Matthews.

I finished The Tobacco Wives last night -- 3.5 stars.

I started The Book of Cold Cases by Simone St James this am. So far, so good.

I read The Overnight Guest by Heather Gudenkauf last week. 3.5 stars. It was very gripping, but it left a lot of unanswered questions.

Then I read Sea of Tranquility, the new Emily St. John Mandel. LOVED it! The beginning was a little slow, it didn't suck me right in like Station Eleven, and the several storylines seemed a bit random. But once everything started to fall into place I was totally hooked. This is soft sci-fi, my kind of sci-fi. It just tells you the whats, not the hows.

Now I've just started The One by John Marrs. Not much of an opinion yet, but the consensus on goodreads seems to be that it's a page-turner.

I will have to put those on hold, Silvia!

I finished Happiness For Beginners. It was very gentle, kinda cute.

Now I have Her Perfect Life by Hank Phillippi Ryan.

My library DRM stripper has stopped working. My method for reading books was to put them on hold at the library, then when they come in, I borrow them and strip the DRM so there's no time limit to read them. Then after I read them, I delete them. It's a bit shady but not horrible. But now it's not working anymore. :(

Scratch that book; R surprised me by picking up my hold at the library. :cute He went in, didn't have my card, just said, "My wife (first name) has a hold. She's a regular?" They laughed and grabbed it off the shelf. Small towns, man.

It's The Switch by Beth O'Leary.

Spudd, sorry it stopped working. How long can you keep borrowed books?

Blush, that's sweet. And I liked that book.

I'm reading The One by John Marrs. I'm enjoying it so far. There's a netflix series now, no?

Spudd - not sure if this applies but I have heard that if you're reading on a kindle that if you take it offline after downloading the book then it can't be returned until you hook up to wifi again.

I finished The Book of Cold Cases - good but 3.5 stars. Thought the ending was rushed which i hate.

I have a nice stack of new releases:

Anatomy - Dana Schwartz
The Golden Couple - Greer Hendricks/Sara Pekkanen
The Love of my Life - Rosie Walsh
Fake - Erica Katz
The Younger Wife - Sally Hepworth

That makes total sense, but if she wants to read something else on kindle before she'll need to connect.

The Golden Couple and The Younger Wife are on my short list!

Kenneth fixed it, I'm back in business. Woo!

Almost done with Mr Mercedes. Would recommend. It's really quite compelling.

Couldn't get into The Golden Couple after 8% or so, let me know if i should insist, Rowan.

Spudd, is Mr Mercedes too horribly violent? His books often are, and that's a turn-off for me usually, but I've enjoyed some of them. Are you gonna read the whole trilogy?

I finished The One. It started off well, but then turned silly. 2.5 stars. Now I'm reading Violeta, the new Isabel Allende.

I finished The Switch. It was cute, not my favourite by her.

Silvia - I liked The Golden Couple but I have heard some bad reviews of it. If it didn't take, I would just let it be. ;)

From this weekend:

Anatomy - Dana Schwartz (4 stars)
The Golden Couple - Greer Hendricks/Sara Pekkanen (4 stars)
The Younger Wife - Sally Hepworth (3.5 stars)

Mr Mercedes was not horribly violent, for the most part. There was some, but not a great deal. I probably will read the whole trilogy but not all at once.

I'm now reading "What the Psychic told the Pilgrim" which is a non-fiction about a woman walking the Camino de Santiago. Which is the sort of thing that strongly appeals to me, except for the part where there are hundreds of other people doing it at the same time and you have to sleep in massive dorms.

Hm, I might pick up Mr Mercedes one day.

Finished Violeta. Loved it. Then I started the 6th in the Bridgerton series (When He Was Wicked.)

I finished Her Perfect Life. Ok, but sort of unsatisfying.

Now I have Free Love by Tessa Hadley. I picked it up because on the front cover, Marian Keyes is quoted "I LOVED this book!"

Loved the 6th Bridgerton! I think it was my favorite in the series so far. Then I started the 5th, which I had skipped but now decided to try again. I'd started it once, but found it boring. Does anyone else enjoy these books, or is it just me? I feel that once you get past the cringey covers, they're great fun.
