I've read a few recently:

The Last One at the Wedding by Jason Rekulak 4 stars
No One Can Know by Kate Alice Marshall 3 stars
Maybe Next Time by Cesca Major 3.5 stars

I'm about to start More or Less Maddy by Lisa Genova. She tends to write around neuro issues (she has a PhD in neuroscience) plus family drama. This one is about a bipolar teen - she usually handles it well.

I liked Pineapple Street but I typically enjoy rich people behaving badly.

I read Misery by Stephen King which was ok. I liked the movie better which is never the case. Maybe because I saw the movie first and think Kathy Bates really nailed the character of Annie Wilkes. I want to watch the movie again now. I read it for a book club with a friend.

I'm also halfway through Guilty Creatures which is a nonfiction about 2 couples and how the wife in one and husband in another conspired to murder the wife's husband so they could be together and get all the insurance $$. Oh...in Florida.

I read an old Kristan Higgins and it was another 2 stars for me. I usually love her stuff, but maybe just her more recent stuff.

Then I read a great Brazilian, not translated into English. 4 stars.

Then yesterday, you won't believe this, but I went to a used books store and bought 2 books. Yes, paper books I think I haven't read one in 5 years. I understand the appeal, I really do, but the font sizes! Anyway, I bought and started The Thread by Victoria Hislop. I might go back to the store one of these days. It felt a bit magical, after reading on a kindle for so long

That's funny Silvia. I love printed books. LOVE

It's weird I prefer the paperback that are not the little mass market size. I don't love hardcovers but I'll buy those too. Pretty much only used if I can.

I like them, but I find kindle SO much more comfortable to actually read.

I finished "New York Dead" by Stuart Woods the other day. It was pretty mid. Would not really recommend, but it passed the time pleasantly enough.

Now I'm reading "People Like Her" by Ellery Lloyd. It's about an instagram influencer. I haven't gotten far enough into it to really give a review yet.

I finished All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker on Monday night. This was a weird book for me. I think it was too long and it meandered a lot in the middle. It was interesting and I liked it but I didn't love it. Has anyone here read it?

I read What Happened to the McCrays by Tracey Lange. I didn't like it. It was one of those stories where if people who loveoneanotherohsoverymuch would just freaking talk to each other.

I started a Freida McFadden mainly because I want to know what the fuss is all about...

Spudd, I liked People Like Her.

Rowan, All the Colors of the Dark is on my radar, but I'm not sure I want to read something that long unless it's a family saga or something like that. Also, Freida McFadden is the McDonald's of literature, but you probably already know that. People seem to either embrace the ridiculousness and love the books, or dismiss them as utter crap. I enjoyed several of her books, but the last one I read was just too much. Which one did you pick?

I read a short Argentinian mystery called All Yours and I really enjoyed it. Now I'm reading a Brazilian one again. I'm trying to read more books not originally written in English to get out of my never-ending reading slump. This is the third one and it's working so far.

Oh yeah Silvia -- I totally know what I've picked up with McFadden. I'm curious. I recently found out she's a practicing doctor as well which is intriguing to me. I grabbed The Housemaid.

I finished The Housemaid. I liked it - I mean it's trash but it was fun. It reminded me of Verity by CoHo which I liked (I know it was really polarizing).

Glad you liked it! I did too. Though I think my favorite of hers is Never Lie. I thought Co Ho's writing in Verity was much better than anything I've read by Freida, but I hated Verity's plot twist so much that I ended up giving it 2 stars. I was enjoying it up to that point.
