Re: July! What are you reading?
I'm pausing on the Nancy Thayer novel because a non-fiction book I picked up yesterday is high demand and due back quickly. It's "My Secret Life Inside Scientology and My Harrowing Escape" by Jenna Miscavige Hill. I'm going to give myself the willies!

I finished Big Brother by Lionel Shriver. Did not like. HATED the ending. I'm still annoyed.
Next up is either Instructions for a Heatwave or The Astronaut Wives Ckub.

I love Sedaris. I saw him live, and now I read his books in his voice. On the reading list now: And the Mountains Echoed, Earth Afire, the Light Between Oceans, and Man Up by Ross Matthews. The last really good books I read were the Dog Stars, and Tell the Wolves I'm home.
Happiness is an inside job.

I finished Instructions for a Heatwave - it was pretty good.
Next up is The Astronaut Wives Club. I'm heading to the library tonight - I have the following waiting on the hold shelf:
The Engagements
The Hedge Knight
The Execution of Noa P. Singleton (which I don't even remember requesting or what it's about... )
Kiss Me First

Re: July! What are you reading?
I finished the escape from scientology book. It was a quick read. The writing wasn't that great but it was interesting to learn about how things went down for one prominent member.
Now I'm back to the Nancy Thayer book.

Re: July! What are you reading?
Finished "Me Before You" last night, absolutely loved it. Highly recommended. The style reminded me of Nick Hornby.
Then I started "City of Thieves" by David Benioff (sp?). I'm only like 25 pages in but it seems like a winner so far.

Beachcombers by Nancy Thayer was cheesy.
Now I have a few to choose from; I'll probably start with the Maeve Binchy because it won't be renewable.

I'm about 1/2 done with The Astronaut Wives Clube. It's kind of interesting but getting repetitive. Hopefully it picks up a bit.

Re: July! What are you reading?
I just finished the Maeve Binchy book, A Week in Winter. Totally formulaic, still loved it. I will miss her writing.
Re: July! What are you reading?
I'm almost done with The Next Time You See Me by Holly Goddard Jones. Gillian Flynn of Gone Girl told me to read it. It's good...easy reading, good story, I'm just waiting for the snap.
Next up is The Execution of Noa P Singleton.

Re: July! What are you reading?
I finished the Astronaut Wives Clube by Lily Koppel. It was ok. Parts of it were interesting but it got pretty repetitive by the end. And I had to listen to Jeff tell me the entire time that we never really landed on the moon, it was fake so the book was fake. He's
I just started Treasure Island!!! by Sara Levine. It's pretty amusing.

Re: July! What are you reading?
I started "Come, Thou Tortoise" by Jessica Grant last night. Why did I not read this sooner? It had me hooked from the first page. I hope it stays this good.

Re: July! What are you reading?
I finished Come, thou tortoise by Jessica Grant and I highly recommend it. The premise is a bit odd but her writing style is unique and engaging. I can totally see this book being made into an indie film with Ellen Page as the star.
I haven't decided what's next as I have a lot to choose from.

Re: July! What are you reading?
I'm halfway through The Execution of Noa J Singleton. I like it but it's building, building, building. Another character that I don't really like....
Re: July! What are you reading?
I just finished The Orchid House by Lucinda Riley. The dialogs were cheesy, the romance contrived, the plot twists ridiculous, beyond unbelievable; the coincidences and the neat ending too Hollywoodian... and I couldn't put it down It was like a bad Mexican soap opera... so much drama, and I really wanted to know how it would end. The author was called "a Kate Morton wannabe" on goodreads.Be warned, then.
I don't know what to read now. I have Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn sitting next to me, but I'm waiting for 2 books by a Brazilian author I ordered. They should be here tomorrow. I'm curious, they're historical fiction and sound right up my alley. We'll see.
