I finished The Good Daughter last night. Hated it. I thought I was going to hate it because it's too violent (but decided to read it anyway because of the hype), but I hated it because it's SO BORING. I mean, horrible things happen in the first 75 pages and in the last 75. The middle just drags and drags. And why is extreme violence so popular? I'll never understand that.

Not sure what's next. Maybe an Elin Hilderbrand.

I finished "This Will Hurt" last night. It's a chick-lit book about working in a corporate environment. It was okay. Wouldn't highly recommend.

Started Bad Seed by William March yesterday, couldn't get into it, decided to start You. The Netflix series is probably helping, but I'm totally hooked! I watched one more episode yesterday, but then decided to read the book first. I hope I can finish until Saturday so that I can watch more! (unlikely)

I started "Unbecoming" by Rebecca Scherm. So far I'm not super into it, but I'm hoping it will pick up.

Finished You. I liked it, it was very gripping and definitely more sickening than the Netflix series (they introduced a character in the series, a little boy, just to make the psycho seem more human). I might pick up the sequel, but not right away.

I started the sample of A Gentleman in Moscow last night.

Couldn't get into A Gentleman in Moscow. Started The Dead Zone by Stephen King. I loved the movie when I was a teen. The book pretty much starts with a scene of a dog being brutally murdered, and I'd started it once but gave up during that scene. But I'm curious about the plot because of the movie, so decided to give it another shot (and watch the movie again when I'm done).

Blush, it may have been the translation. Or old age grumpiness. But I found it slow. I'm reading the sequel qith my 13-year-old student now and I like it better. Though it'll take us a year to finish, at 15 pages/week! If you're in the mood for YA, have you read Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda (or Love, Simon, as it became after the movie)? I gave it just 3 stars, but that's because I'm a bitter old woman, it deserved 4. The movie is adorable, too.

Finished The Dead Zone. It was pretty good. I loved the ending. Didn't remember ANYTHING from the movie, had no idea how it would end. I'm very happy to report that there were no further animal cruelty scenes. That particular scene was just to introduce the villain at the beginning of the book. Geez, Mr. King, couldn't you have shown us some other way that he was evil? Also, is it wrong that I'm horrified at the murder of a dog but am pretty unfazed by a scene of rape and murder of a woman?

I started the sample of Coming Home by Rosamunde Pilcher. We'll see.

Couldn't get into Coming Home. It seemed up my alley, but it's 1000 pages long and half of them were descriptions. I'd probably love an abridged version!

Started Don Tillman #3 (The Rosie Result? I think that's it).
