Finished We Were the Lucky Ones. It was excellent. Now I'm watching the series.

I started Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood and gave up at 25%. Too silly. Funny how rom coms tend to be all or nothing for me. I either love them or can't even be bothered to finish. This was my second and probably last attempt with this author. I know her main characters are all STEM women and I was hoping for some Big Bang Theory vibes, but no such luck.

Now I'm reading The Vanishing Half, which several of my friends on goodreads gave 5 stars to, but so far it's... ok? I'm only on page 67 though, so hoping I'll find this amazingness soon.

I am reading a plague book...Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks. It's good. Backlist.

I finished Erasure by Percival ... someone. I can't remember his last name. Everett maybe? It was OK. I wouldn't really recommend it. I thought the premise was interesting but it was just a slow burn that never really caught fire.

I just started The Stone Angel by Margaret Laurence. This was required reading in high school for an English class I didn't take, so I've never read it. So far I must say it's pretty good.

I read Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks - a historical fiction novel about the plague. It was decent and was loosely based on a real village that decided to quarantine themselves when the plague popped up for them.

I'm reading Knife River by Justine Champine about 2 sisters whose mom goes missing 15 years prior and they recently found the bones. I basically read it in the car to hockey and between periods. Gotta get it in when I can!

I finished The Vanishing Half. It was interesting enough, but I didn't love it. 3 stars.

Then I read a YA, Nothing Like the Movies by Lynn Painter. It was the sequel to Better than the Movies, which was ADORABLE, but the sequel was...well, not. I gave it 2.5 stars.

Not sure what's next. Maybe I'll pick up the new Liane Moriarty I've been saving?

Read The Whisper Man by Alex North. It was ok. I was really enjoying the first half, but the second... meh. There was something in the resolution that I really didn't like.

Then I picked up the new Liane Moriarty, Here One Moment. Only on page 87.

I just finished Burn by Peter Heller. It is a postapocalyptic/secession novel in Maine. Two hunters go into the deep woods for 2 weeks and come out to all the bridges bombed and no way out and people from both sides shooting at them. I think I don't love his writing style - he's very popular in the book community but the writing felt disjointed to me but I could also see how some people would like it. The story was decent and different.

Not sure what's next on the list. I have a giant pile from the library as well as a huge list of early releases on my kindle. Next week can't come fast enough!!

I finished Here One Moment and... didn't love it I had such high hopes for it! I gave it 3 stars.The previous one had already been not great, and this one had such high ratings! And dude, if I can't love a Liane Moriarty novel, am I broken?? I thought the beginning was painfully slow, and even with her writing, I almost gave it up at about page 200 (it has 540.) I even read something else while I was reading it! Gasp! (a short Brazilian which I also didn't like.) It did get better in the second half, and it had some 5-star moments. I almost gave it 4 stars. But I couldn't get over the boredom of the first half. Where is the perfection of Big Little Lies, What Alice Forgot, Truly Madly Guilty??

Then I started another Brazilian, a YA. It's something that had been on my radar for a while, then I forgot about it, then I came across a post by its author on threads and decided to give it a try. It's ok so far, though very YA-ish.

I finished The Stone Angel by Margaret Laurence and I really liked it. I don't know why it's required reading for high-schoolers, though, it's about an elderly lady. It's from the elderly lady's viewpoint so maybe they wanted teens to be able to identify with their elders??

Now I am reading Kindred by Octavia Butler and I'm super into it. It's a time travel book which I always love.

Spudd, one of my friends included the Stone Angel in her note in my OAC yearbook.

I finished I Hope This Finds You Well. It was an interesting concept, the dialogue was good. Some of the plot points could have been subtler, but it was still good.

I have books to pick up at the library but I don't know if I will get there.

You know what I miss about the first couple years of the pandemic? The library made bundles of books specified to your taste. You could order whatever you wanted and based on your book history (or if they knew you personally) they'd stick in a few extra in the curbside pickup bag.

You should ask the librarian if they can still do that! You use them so much, they must know you. I bet they'd do it as a favour.
